OFFICIAL TPX semifinal Motnola defeats JTurner 2 & 1 A great match in rainy and windy conditions (20+ and 30+ mph winds mostly ) This one was close most of the way and almost got down the wire, as JT came on strong in the final holes and I was just barely able to hang on. Great match JT, good luck in the next round. I've made the finals for the first time in any swing style, whooho. ;D It's probably all downhill from here, folks The details: Hole 1, par 4. 18mph right to left wind and rain. I miss the fairway and my approach is off the green. JT has two solid shots but he misses a birdie putt rolling way past the hole. I par and he bogeys. Mot 1UP. Hole 2, par 3. 28 mph headwind right to left. We both make the green, but have long putts. JT tries to ram his in and rolls all the way off the green and into a bunker. I par to go 2UP. Hole 3. par 4. With a 20 mph headwind, we both make pars. In the par-5 4th we both miss the FW and the approaches are off the green, birdies result. Hole 5, par 3. 23 mph headwind. We both club up. I'm in the middle of green, JT is closer and birdies to make it Mot 1UP. In Hole 6, par 4. Wind is only 11 mph, birdies result. Hole 7. par 4: 10 mph wind lets us reach the green without major problems. But JT misses his birdie putt short, while I make mine. Mot 2UP again. Holes 8, 9, 10: We match shots to go birdie, birdie, par. Mot 2UP. Hole 11, par 4: 17 mph tailwind right to left. I fail to adjust correctly for the wind and end up deep in the trees left. While I'm busy with a chansaw trying to cut my way out of the forest , JT plays solid golf for par, cutting my lead down again. Mot 1UP. Holes 12 & 13: Birdies in both holes to stay Mot 1UP and it's clear this one will be close til the end. Hole 14, par 3: A pivotal hole, uphill and with an ondulating green. The 26 mph headwind left to right adds to the challenge. JT's tee shot is short of the green. I aim my iron shot about 20 yards pass the green and loft it slightly. I land in the middle of the green, but face a 29-ft putt with a considerable break to the right. I aim about half a grid left of the hole, intending to get close for par. Instead, I watch in disbelief as the ball go in for birdie Mot 2UP Hole 15, par 4: 14 mph left to right wind. Tee shots are fine, but I face a long putt while JT is much closer, tough on the edge of the green, if I recall correctly. Perhaps because of that his putt comes up first and he misses it . I make mine for birdie and 3UP. Hole 16, par 4: 20+ mph wind right to left. A DORMIE, but also a D4. I aim for the front of the green but my shot bounces on the rough and grabs just a bit of the fairway. I watch as the trail of JT's ball heads toward the green and when I zoom in during my 2nd shot I see he just missed the green I guess feeling too confident, I make a mistake in my second shot and end a bit far on the edge of the green. JT birdies to my par, we're 2UP, and I tell myself I better watch out. Hole 17, par 5: Wind is in excess of 20 mph again, right to left. I sense the momentum is shifting dangerously in JT's favor and he must sense it too, because he fires up a great tee shot. Mine is decent but my approach leaves me a long putt. JT, on the other hand, fires up an awesome approach (he later tells me it's a thumper ) His eagle assured , I know that I can't afford to lose this hole. My putt is long but the break is gentle, I make it for eagle and count my lucky stars that JT's comeback ran out of holes. Fun match JT. Motnola

OFFICIAL, RD 2 TPX
SkinniePost defeats Chris 2 & 1Another great game! I took an early lead, by winning holes #3 and #4. But Skinnie tied it immediately, by winning #5 and #6. I won #9 again, but Skinnie, again, tied it on the following hole. On #10, my Birdie-Putt lipped out, while Skinnie made his, and for the first time, Skinnie took the lead. Now, we weren't sure what broke our Pattern. Either it was Skinnie leading for the 1st time, or it was #12 which was halved, instead of me tie-ing the game again. Anyway, Skinnie didn't give his lead back; instead, he also won #13, to go 2UP. From #14 - #17, we matched 3 Birdies and 1 Par, and the game was decided! Congratulations Skinnie; but what's most important is that we had a good, interesting game, some fun and laughs in the chat and even 1 or 2 Spectators on Skinnie's Livestream! Good Luck in your game for 5th place, and I hope to meet you again, someday ... Chris Confirmed... It was a great match where Chris and I were shooting the lights out. We probably had only a few pars between the two of us. And as Chris said, we had fun in chat during the game Links to the video can be found here... Part 1Part 2It got split into 2 parts, due to my computer crashing. Enjoy ;D Peace, SkinniePost

Great match JT, good luck in the next round. I've made the finals for the first time in any swing style, whooho. ;D It's probably all downhill from here, folks CONFIRMED Motnola - The scores I mean - not about the "probably all downhill from here".... You got what it takes Motnola - Great game play under tough conditions.Motnola's game play brought out the best of my game - every time I would kick it up a notch - he would put the pressure on - and make me play even better. Thanks Motnola - enjoyed the match tremendously!I really enjoyed watching the entire match this morning! What a great game MOT - you played solid golf (except for one hole :-) ) and kept the pressure on the entire match.
For those of you interested in watching - you may want to check the volume control first - classic rock edited into the video.
Front 9
Back 9 - No music due to copyright issues.
The details:
Hole 1, par 4. 18mph right to left wind and rain. I miss the fairway and my approach is off the green. JT has two solid shots but he misses a birdie putt rolling way past the hole. I par and he bogeys. Mot 1UP.
Mistake #1 for me - I played a TPX match earlier in the day under rainy conditions - with SOFT/SLOW green speeds. I still expected that putt to come up short without a good strong whack.
Hole 2, par 3. 28 mph headwind right to left. We both make the green, but have long putts. JT tries to ram his in and rolls all the way off the green and into a bunker. I par to go 2UP.
Mistake #2 - I did not learn from my first mistake! I hit that ball out of the park!
Hole 3.
NOW I leave my putt short.
Mot 1UP.
I knew something was up when I could not find where Motnola's ball had landed. Pulled out the 3wood and got a nice fairway drive. Then I knew why I could not see Motnola's ball.
Holes 12 & 13: Birdies in both holes to stay Mot 1UP and it's clear this one will be close til the end.
Quick recovery by Motnola. Hole #11 was in the past - we were both fortunate to not see any more of those!
Instead, I watch in disbelief as the ball go in for birdie Mot 2UP
Nice shot Motnola. Picture me - shaking my head in dis-belief as you make that putt! Pressures on and I know it!
Hole 15, par 4: 14 mph left to right wind. Tee shots are fine, but I face a long putt while JT is much closer, tough on the edge of the green, if I recall correctly. Perhaps because of that his putt comes up first and he misses it . I make mine for birdie and 3UP.
I need to watch the video on this one - can't remember!
I went for the green - down by 3 with 3 to play? Motnola was not making any mistakes - and I needed a lucky shot (actually I needed 3 lucky shots!) I had a "small" chance at this point - hoping Motnola would succumb to the pressure.
All I can hope for at this point is that Motnola misses his eagle putt. I watched as the trace disappeared in the hole. I gave it my best shot and had a great time playing.
Fun match JT. Yes it was!

COcowboy baaaarely defeats TMangrove - 1up
We started in the rain and finished in the sun after 5 restarts
The first 18 were finished all square. We each took 1 up leads, and had opportunities to close it out, but just couldn't do it. Then (per the rules) we set 18 more. We set it first in the rain, and got disconnected after 4 with Tman 1up. When we finally got to play the final 5, the sun was shining and the winds abated a little bit. We finished the front all square. Then into sudden death. It took 5 holes of that. On the last hole tman was long and I was short. Our putts crossed pretty close to the hole. Mine was an uphill and his was a downhill. I turned around and made the par putt, and Tman barely missed his.
What a great match!! That was really enjoyable. I would have been just as happy to come out on the losing end. Great golf Tman.

Confirmed. Thanks for the match Duke. It was close the whole time and you're certainly a worthy winner. This is two of these extra hole situations I've lost now. Maybe one day I'll get the upper hand. It was nice to see the rain go TMan

Third place match - TPX - Flight 2 Jturner125 wins over JoeCool - 5 and 4. Thanks for game JC. I really appreciate the live stream and company during the match. It was a bit windy and rainy out there today - luckily there were no lightning strikes. We braved the storm - I guess it wasn't too bad - I saw a few deer grazing around the greens. Jim

TPX playoff at Cog Hill TMangrove defeats ChrisFromLux 2Up after 9 extra holes My last TPX playoff match against Cowboy went 5 hours. I decided to go one step further against Chris and we had a two day match We were AS after 18 and just because it was 1 am his time he thought he needed some sleep At that point we agreed to play the extra holes the next day. On the opening 18 I got off to an excellent start by winning the first two holes. After that Chris caught fire with the putter and was making everything. By the time we reached the 9th tee I was 1 down. Holes 9-14 were halved before I won 15 to square things again. Chris won the 16th to take the lead again and things were looking bleak. At 17 Chris missed his putt from the fringe while I made a 28 foot breaking putt to square the match one more time. We each hit our tee shots in the fairway at 18. I hit my approach first and had a thumper to within 4 feet. Chris hit his onto the fringe but made the birdie putt anyway. I tap in, we finish AS and it's bedtime for my European friend. The next day we load up Cog Hill again for the extra holes. I got off to a fast start again with an eagle at the first from about 68 yards. I also won the 3rd to go 2 up. Chris recovered again with some wonderful approach shots and we were AS after 6. It would have been AS sooner if I hadn't hit a 45 foot uphill putt at the 5th. Having squared the match, Chris now began to struggle a bit. I won the 7th and took a 1 up lead to the par 5 9th. I found the fairway with my tee shot and he didn't. I played for birdie and won the hole when he wasn't able to reach the green from the rough. It was a close match throughout and couple of shots here or there could have changed the result. Chris, it's always good fun when we play. Thanks for the match. This was my third playoff match to go extra holes this season. Maybe I qualify for an "Entertainer of the Year" prize Here are links to the videos from the first 18 and the following 9: www.ustream.tv/recorded/13540746www.ustream.tv/recorded/13561672TMan

TPX playoff at Cog Hill TMangrove defeats ChrisFromLux 2Up after 9 extra holes CONFIRMed! A well deserved victory, TMan! On the first 18, I made some incredible Putts, keeping me in the game and saving me into Overtime. In the Overtime, I changed the strategy, hitting the Approaches close instead of continuing my incredible Putting , which finally lost me the match! But as you said, we had fun and a good time in chat over those 2 (or even 3 ) days, and that's still the most important! Congrats on your 7th place! ;D
