ANNOUNCEMENT: Season 2 Format Revision
Based on input from the polls, discussion threads, chats and PMs, here is a revised format for Season 2:
KISSing in the WiiGA
We’re going to Keep It Short and Simple in Season 2 as we get used to TW10. So….
Season 2 Tourneys
There will be a 4 week regular season with an additional week for makeup rounds, followed by a 2 week playoff. There will be 2 simultaneous play tourneys of 1 round each for each of the 4 weeks of the regular season, one using Professional settings and one using Amateur settings. The settings for each tournament will be determined by the parallel settings for EA’s Live Weekly Tournaments for that week. For a score to be official, it must be verified by another WiiGA member. All Season 2 tourneys are to be played unranked. Either your profile or a stock player may be used by any player.
Arranging Matches/Passwords
Arranging matches will be done the same way in Season 2 as in Season 1. You may post a request for a tee time in the Tee Times thread, or you may go to the chatroom and pick up a match. The password for creating matches will follow the format of WiiGA1A or WiiGA3P, where the number is the week of the tournament and the A or P stands for Amateur or Professional settings.
Leveling the Playing Field
One of the features of play this season will be the ability for WiiGA members to replay tourneys each week and select the best score achieved as the score they will submit for official posting. However, a few WiiGA players will have a restriction placed on replays. If you are ranked 300 or better on the EA leaderboard, or, after the 1st tournament, you are ranked within the top 5 on any WiiGA leaderboard, you cannot select the best score achieved. Instead, you must declare before a round begins that a round will result in an official score. In other words, these top ranked players may play WiiGA matches as much as they like during the tourney week; but when they want the score to count, they must either post in the Tee Time thread or declare in chat before the match begins that the score for that round will be the official posted score. That score must be verified by one or more of the other WiiGA members playing, whether or not the round is an official round for them. All other WiiGA members may select their best scores AFTER they have played the matches. All members should be sure to mark scores they post as official when the score posted is intended to be used for leaderboard ranking.
Leaderboards
There will be 2 leaderboards, Pro and Am, based on the tourney type . All members may play in both kinds of tourneys
All scores for a week should be posted no later than Sunday night so that leaderboards can be updated Monday morning.
Season Schedule
The season will be short to allow us to evaluate the new format. Here’s the schedule:
July 13 – July 19: Week 1 Pro and Am tourneys (scores for 1 round each will be submitted)
July 20 – July 26: Week 2 Pro and Am tourneys (scores for 1 round each will be submitted)
July 27 – Aug. 2: Week 3 Pro and Am tourneys (scores for 1 round each will be submitted)
Aug. 3 – Aug. 9: Week 4 Pro and Am tourneys (scores for 1 round each will be submitted)
Aug. 10 – Aug. 16: Week 5 Makeup week
Aug. 17 – Aug. 30: Playoffs
Makeups
If you miss the tourneys for a week, a week has been reserved at the end of the season for makeups. All makeups for the season are to be played in the week reserved for makeups. For example, during week 3, only tourney passwords for week 3 may be used to play week 3 tourneys. If you missed week 2, you should focus on the week 3 tourneys (and any member tourneys from the League Lab you choose to play) during week 3. Week 5 is when you can makeup week 2 tourneys using week 2 passwords and settings. This applies to new members who missed tourneys as well as to existing members who may have missed a week due to other obligations.
Playoffs
There will be a match play playoff for both leaderboards for all players with a ranking on the leaderboard who want to play. A formula for weighting the season and the playoff position to determine the season’s “winner” is still being worked out. We’ll keep you posted and seek your feedback before putting this in place.
The League Lab
The League Lab will operate as it did last season- a place where members can set up and run special even tournaments. These tourney results will be for bragging rights only and will not count on the leaderboards.
We are all looking forward to the new season. Please let us know if you have any questions!
