Seems like almost every time I try to set up a game I can not get a connection ??(have hosted 2 of like 50 successfully ) Now is that me or EA or just the way it is? I know giacomo was trying to join one of my games but we could not get a connection .. I was like sweet I get to practice with a fellow WiiGA member so any help you guys could give would be greatly apprecited ! Thanks

Hey, washerfluid- I'm not sure what the problem was. You and I both showed 4 green bars- should have been no problem, but it wouldn't work. So a couple of diagnostic questions: does the problem happen only when you host? Can you join games? Can you enter Play Anyone? Does the game launch if you're invited in? NoChin- if you see this, got any ideas- you're much better on the tech side than I am.
I think the other thing we can try is to get on at the same time tomorrow night and also log into chat. Then let's try a couple of things and see if we can make it work. I was really looking forward to playing you, so let's try again.

The problem is your router or ISP. What is your router and modem model or gateway?

This seems to be a problem common to many of us the last few weeks. We have also not been able to join a game using the PW and have had to be invited in instead. We have all assumed it is to do with the EA Servers.
Leginand I couldn't connect at all the other night no matter how we set up the game.
I have a Siemens Gateway with my ADSL. I have talked with the techs at my ISP and have adjusted to the settings they gave me, with no luck. I have also set rules for the ports listed in the TW09 manual. I also went a step further and ordered the Wan adapter and have wired the Wii directly into the modem.
I hope we can all get this worked out. It has been a royal pain lately trying to get together for games.

Yeah this is kind of a random problem that plagues certain pairs of players. I really can't explain it. There are some people I just can't connect with. TheJokker and I have tried several times to play together, and we just can't connect. Now he recently got a new router, and we haven't tried yet since then, so it'll be interesting to see if that helps at all. He says his internet is much more stable now, so it may work.
The other thing that's weird about this situation is that usually you can still join play anyone matches and connect to other players. Just for some reason certain players can't connect with each other. I've had this happen online several times. I create a game in the lobby, a few players join me, but we can't connect. Suddenly one guy out of three leaves, and we start the game. It's just this incompatibility that comes up. I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm sure it's something to do with ports and ISP, because I've had this problem with other friends of mine playing other games on the Wii like MarioKart and Smash Bros.

Just a thought, but has anyone tried just connecting the Wii systems instead of going online? Don't know if this would be legal (WiiGA rules), but I was just wondering if anyone has tried this way before. I myself have never tried it because not many of friends and family have the Wii. TheStick44

Thanks for all the good info .. Since I am off today I have updated my router firmware maybe that will help some ..I'll bet its my ISP (sprint/embarq DSL)-- just have a feeling its just frustrating cause I wanna get some practice for tournament 2 and since I can play online I would rather play against someone Ahh well it is what it is I was just wondering if I had to set something different , I'll just keep setting them and see what happens ...

Just a quick mention in regards to these connection problems with certain players. Fortunately, since my new modem, I have connected EVERY time I have tried a match without ANY problems, WoooHooo. I use CableOne for my internet and had a normal modem, my new modem is they're wireless modem. During installation of this new modem the Tech told me that my signal was transmitting at like 59.8, the max out for the modem was 60.0, so this created a problem where my modem could not fluctuate up and down in signal strength as it needs to. It was a wiring issue and he fixed it, I believe this was the problem and not the modem itself.
Another quick mention on this issue. When you are in a room with other players and try to launch a game and it stalls for a while, watch the players to see which player drops out of the room when it fails. The player or players that drop out are the ones that you are having trouble connecting with. If you avoid that player for future games it will help. This does not always work this way but it seemed to help me figure out who I had trouble connecting with.
