All players who have not completed their matches within the deadline must do so by midnight Dec 23 so that we can complete Rd 4 by the 25th.

The deadlines are definitely a good idea. I would say 1 month tops for the 12 regular rounds, then 1 week for each playoff. It would work better for everyone chomping at the bit to play and start new tourneys.
I may decide to forego playing in the seasons going forward, just because I don't wanna be the guy holding things up. My company has been piling it on, doing more with less, and that has to come first. Usually I can get a night each week to bang out 4 rounds, but when it comes to playoffs it wouldn't be fair of me to say "i can only play this one day and time".

So everyone understands why this season's playoff is more time-crunched than usual, it's because of the multiple flights and the decision to have everyone who completed the season enter the playoff. This was and is a great idea, and I'm glad we did it. I'm planning on doing it again next season, which will start on January 4, 2010, by the way. But two related things happened that have messed up the timing. First, to get everyone into the playoff we had to construct two flights with unbalanced brackets. Since we hadn't done that before it took an extra day and a half to get it figured out. My bad, but that's what happened. So we lost some time on the front end. The other problem was that the unbalanced brackets created a fourth round in some flights. Yet we'd only scheduled two weeks originally to get the playoffs in. While it's easy to chalk that up to inexperience with this format, it means that we're trying to get 4 rounds done in less than 2 weeks instead of 3 rounds in a full two weeks. So blame me for the problem. The net is, guys with rounds left need to post official tee time requests in the bulletin boards and get their rounds done so we can finish Season 4, take a week's break for the holidays and get on with Season 5 on schedule.
Thanks! G.

I am a little confused. There is no posting for AM flight winner pairings. If there is, point me in the right direction. Looking forward to finishing up season 4! hog

Hog- the rules for Season 4 specified that champions would be declared for each match play flight (see the Season 4 rules in the Announcements thread.) We didn't know how many flights we'd have at the time, nor did we envision declaring a champion of champions. Having said that, if the AM flight champions want to have a playoff among themselves during the 10 days between now and the start of next season, the logical pairings would be:
Flight 1 vs Flight 4 Flight 2 vs Flight 3
The winners would move to a champion of champions match.
If this is something the champions want to do, I'd ask IB or one of the other admins to set up courses for the two rounds. I'm leaving town tomorrow morning and will be out of touch for about 5 days, making it difficult for me to manage this add-on.
I would say that because this is an add-on, it would require the agreement in the next 24 hours or so of all flight champions to warrant a champion of champions playoff.

That is my fault for not reading the rules. I have no intention of messing up the system but I really did want to see how bad I would get beat by Rudolpho. hog

I just flew to maryland........... Hey Hogger, You probably flew into BWI, a mere stones throw from Casa de LongHowie. Next time drop in for some Christmas Cheer. Give me some advance notice and I'll have TrojanMan and Pulliam over as well. We'd have us a TW10 foursome!

i was confused about that too hog. season 4 is the first season i was involved in. i just assumed that if i beat MPH in the Flight 4 championship match i would have to play the champion of a different flight. and then the guy that whooped me in that game would play the winner of the other match between the other 2 flight champions to decide the AM champ. good to know how it works for season 5 though!! -johnny
