Wayknow defeats Ironbyron 2 up
Well Frank and I got the Pro playoffs started at Wolf today. Frank jumps out to a 2 up lead early in the front 9.I claw back to all squared around the 6th hole only to go 2 down again at the turn.We get back to all squared at 13 and stay there until 17.I hit two really good shots for a short eagle putt. Frank has water issues I believe; I'm 1 up going into 18.I hit my best drive of the day and have a short eagle putt.Frank goes for the green also but lands in the bunker.A great , great match with Frank; luckily 17 and 18 were the 2 best holes of my round and I needed them! Frank out played me overall and probably should have won....Thank God for match play! Cheers to you Frank!

Winteriii and I went out for our round 1 playoff at Wolf. We played the first 2 holes even and then I was fortunate enough to win the next 2 for a 2 up lead. Hole 5 was even and then I was able to get the next 2 for a fairly quick 4 up lead. Winter sent me a private chat message about my lead and bam, he wins hole # 8 and we're back to a 3 hole difference. We closed out the front 9 with a push and I took a 3 up lead to the back 9. I was able to win #10 to go back to 4 up and we tied holes 11 through 15 giving LongHowie a 4 and 3 victory.
Winter played very steady kept me focused the whole way. Thanks for the match mate. Enjoyed it.

Thanks again, LH and good luck against Neil in the next round!

OFFICIAL........... PROkenw defeats dadgotgame 2 up.Dad and I had arranged to meet up on saturday for out PRO playoff at Wolf. I don't fully understand match play so I write the scores on my trusty chalkboard. I also took some notes. #1 Par 5. I make green with a long putt for Eagle. It was up hill 1.6 feet but relatively straight. I move a little to the left and somehow slam it in. (note: I use precision when doing pro). Dad comes up short of green and makes birdie. kenw up 1#2 Par 4. We both par. #3 Par 3. We both come up short of the green. ken gets up and down for par, dad gets a double bogey. ken up 2#4 Par 4. We both make birdie #5 Par 5. We both get birdie #6 par 4 We both get par #7 a D4. ken decides not to chance it and lays up. he gets up and down for birdie. Dad says heck no, Im going for it. he drives it and appears to be with in 10 feet and makes Eagle. ken up 1#8 Par 3. We both par #9 a D4. We both drive it. ken has a 13 footer and flat out misses and settle for birdie. Dad has issues as well and gets par. ken up 2 at the turn.#10 Par 4. ken makes birdie, dad gets par. ken up 3#11 Par 3. Ken lands 3 feet from hole and overpowers the putt and rips it past the hole. He settles for par, while dad makes his birdie. ken up 2 #12 Par 5. ken gets birdie after he watches dad SLAM down a DOUBLE EAGLE ! Thats right a DE in PRO sets! The gap is closing. kenw up 1#13 a D4. Dad drives it but misses his eagle putt and makes birdie. Ken comes up short and gets up and down for par. ALL squareAt this point I really have no clue but assume I am down. #14 Par 4. We both make birdie #15 Par 3. We have an 18 pmh right to left wind. Ken manages birdie. Dad says its time to make a move a slams down an ACE ! dad up 1#16 Par 4. ken gets birdie while dad lips out and settles for par. ALL square #17 Par 5. Wind is 14 mph right to left. Ken decides not to try to cross the creek and lays up. He hits a great second shot and lands within 5 feet of the hole to make Eagle. Dad gets an unwanted hook and gets a triple bogey. ken up 1#18 a D4. ken drives it but is left with a horrendous 46 foot putt. ken 2 putts it for birdie. Dad has yet another unwanted hook and bogey. ken up 2After the match I thought we were tied. Dad says I won by 2. I go back and look at holes, and sure enough and with a slight skip of the heart, I have pulled of a miracle. Dad THANK YOU for such a nerve racking round. - ken picture of dads ACE and DE on back 9 just because its impressive !.

TheBeezer defeats Dude1956 2 and 1
This is a rematch of our season 3 meeting when Dude came back from 4 down on the back 9 to win 1 up. While I was hoping to turn the tables this time, I knew it was going to be tough.
1 - Strong headwind here so it was really tough to reach the green in 2. I had enough on my 3W but pulled it left and my chip from the rough just missed rolling in. Birdie is made. Dude was short on his second but got up and down to keep it even.
2 - I played it safe and made a fairly routine birdie. Dude's long putt just missed and I go up 1.
3 - The wind hear made reading the shot just hard enough that neither of us got close. We both settled for pars.
4 - We both played safely left and got up and down for birdies. Still 1-up.
5 - Crazy strong wind from the left made it hard to get close. I just missed a long eagle putt and tapped in for the bird. Not sure what happened to Dude here as I was taking a long time to set up my shots, but he made par. I'm now up 2 and feeling pretty good.
6 - So much for that good feeling. I was worried about putting on the slope but it didn't matter as I yanked my tee shot OB to the left. My second try was much better and I made bogey but dude's birdie brings him back within 1.
7 - We both popped this D4 on the green but neither of us could make our putts from the left side of the green. Birdies all around and I'm still up 1.
8 - The wind was hard for us both to read as I went way long and Dude was short right. We both parred.
9 - Strong wind from the right. I knew from practice that I needed to keep it left, so I did - right into the water to the left of the hole. I then flat out missed a 3 foot par putt for no good reason. Dude smartly lagged his birdie putt and tapped in to even the match heading to the back 9. I flashed back to the season 3 match when Dude came from behind and remembered that when he tied me, I tightened up something fierce. I felt pretty relaxed though - I guess all the play time and tourney stuff over the past few months has toughened me up a bit. lol
10 - I played a straightforward set of shots and birdied. I think Dude ended up in the rough somehow and had a long birdie putt that just missed. I'm back up 1.
11 - A tailwind from the back left led me to hit a PW but I left it short while Dude was on the back of the green. We both lagged nicely and our pars left me up 1.
12 - I hit 2 nice shots on this once IIRC and had a straightforward eagle putt, but missed it. Birdies for us both and I'm still clinging to my lead.
13 - 20+ mph headwind here - I elected to stick with the 3W and left it in the rough short left. Dude was short right but had a tricky lie and ended up hitting it over the green. His comebacker was challenging too and he ended up with a double bogey to my up and down for birdie. Up 2 and I really felt like I had all the momentum.
14 - Strong wind from the left here so I elected to play safe and try to land it on a flat part of the fairway. No dice. I hit a pretty good shot but was still 10+ feet from the hole and couldn't put it in the cup. Dude was more aggressive on his tee shot and was rewarded with a birdie. I'm still up 1 and I knew I was going to have to win at least 1 more hole to take the match.
15 - Straightforward birdies as we both hit nice tee shots.
16 - This hole was playing into a headwind but this is usually a pretty easy hole for me. I hit a decent approach but couldn't drop the putt. I fully expected Dude to tie me but he missed his putt and I stayed up 1 after our pars.
17 - 20 mph headwind makes this a bit less stressful as it takes the creek out of play. I tried to play it safe but was too clever and put it left in the tall grass while Dude was in the fairway. 202 to the hole with an 80% lie and I was really worried about putting it in the drink short of the hole. I elected to hit my 1I and was very happy to get it within 12ft. I missed this putt and had to settle for a birdie. Dude had a birdie putt too and I fully expected him to make it and send it to 18. He ended up missing and while I hate to win on a miss, I was very relieved to have survived.
Great game Dude - enjoyable as always and was a real nailbiter.

You played a great match Beezer and deserved the win all the way. I had 2 OB's in places I never have at Wolf before. The headwinds really played havoc with my shot making today. I managed to keep it close most of the way, but never could get ahead of you in this one.
Good luck with the rest of your matches my friend and thanks once again for a great game.

Official Pro rd2 Saint Andrews Jeffro defeats KenW 5&4 The match was closer than the results would indicate. After "G" spanked me in the first round of AM I decided I better practice a bit. I figured that putting would decide the match so I set up the course in all play to determine where all the flattest parts of the green were. It paid off as I found those spots on 11 out of the first 12 holes. Then the last 6 holes came along and I seemed to forget all I learned. For the record Kdub and I played even on holes 9-18....and Ken won hole 16!!!!!!! I know he would not want that part left out . Dad came along so there would be a cart just for the beer . Thanks for the match guys....and Ken...thanks for letting me borrow your W . Jeffro

TheJokker defeats TheBeezer 2-up
Very back and forth match, with only 8 holes halved. I had a 2 hole lead twice yet I couldn't hang with Jokker's 26 on the back 9. Jokker hit a great pitch from beyond the hole to eagle 18 and clinch the match with authority!
Good luck the rest of the way!

I confirm the match as posted by beezer This was without a doubt, the toughest win I can remember in some time. Great match beeze, you had me on the ropes just about the entire match. Very tough conditions of course so each and every shot required some extra thought. You came out of the blocks very strong and played the course very nicely. Jeffro defeats Wayknow 4 & 3.
After Wayknow had his way with me a couple weeks ago in the WWW I knew I better bring my A+ game.
I got off to the best start I can remember. That is not to brag....It is the only thing that saved me.
The first hole was set up as a D4 with the a slight tail wind. The only problem was the slow greens. Way was about a quarter mile from the hole...I was about 5 feet further. My putt showed 70% power to the hole, plus it was about 1.5 feet uphill and on slow greens. I did not think it was possible to reach the hole....at the same time I wasn't sure if it was acceptable to pitch...the clock was running so I figured the heck with it....just hit it really hard! It showed that I hit 96%. It was one of those camera shots where they show you from your view...then switches to above...and then above and behind. You start to get dizzy while you wait for the ball to stop. I figured I would be about 10 feet short and KABOOM.....drops for an eagle. Way came up about a foot short.
After starting out 1 up I started to relax. It really helped as I played the first 9 holes as well as I ever have. Even on the tough par 5 9th I was left with a flat 7 footer for eagle. I was 5up at the turn.
I birdied the 10th and Way settled for par.
On the 11th hole my dream round started to fade as I lipped out my eagle putt, while my buddy Wayknow dropped his putt for eagle. Then the par 3, 13th hole he hits a great tee shot and taps in for birdie while I settle for par. The lead was back down to 4.
We match shot for shot on 14 and 15. Good thing as Way won a couple holes after that. If we had a couple more holes to play the match would have likely been Way's.
Thanks for the great round my friend.
You are a gentleman and a class act.
Jeffro

CONFIRMED Jeffro defeats Wayknow 4 and 3.
Thank you Jeffro for the kind words; you pretty much kicked my butt! I needed to get a couple strokes back from you on the back 9 just to make the final score look respectable. Jeff came out of the gate on fire! I was 3 down after 3 holes! Against some people I might think I can make that up..against Jeffro however..it ain't gonna happen! lol. I just could not make a putt those first few holes.By the time I got the greens figured out it was too late. Congrats Jeffro on a great round and good luck in the finals! As always a pleasure and an honor to play against you..can't wait til next time!

Played the Semi-Final round at Sawgrass with neil. Unfortunately, MY ballz were dropping in the hole and the AHO decided this match in my favor. Sorry about that neil. In my oppinion neil did outplay me during most of the match, I had 2 AHO's and a couple pitch-ins. Very well played match neil, I look forward to next season and more matches with you.
Jokker wins 3 & 2

Jokker defeats Jeffro 1up in the Finals! Congratulations my friend! It was as close as I could make it, but the better man won. This one is worth a full write up, unfortunately I only have time for the Readers Digest version for now. I started off a little rough by overshooting the flag on my approach. Then to add insult to injury I lipped out the putt for par to TheJokkers birdie...Down 1 after 1. I evened it up on the first par 3 with a birdie. Fortunately for me Jokker ran the birdie putt by to square the match. I took my first lead of the match on number 7 as The Jokker settled for par. Jokker knocks in his approach on 9 for eagle to square the match at the turn. Score tied at 26. To add insult to injury Jokker matches his approach on 10 for yet another eagle to go back to a 1up lead. We stayed that way until the 13 hole where I finally dropped an approach to square the match. TheJokker missed a short putt for par. I only mention this as it has an effect on the final score. We both birdie the 14th to remain all square. I had an unforced error on my approach on the 15th hole and missed the green by a yard to the left. I got up and down for par, but Jokker dropped the bird to go back up 1 with 3 holes to play. I squandered a chance to tie it up on the par 5 16th as I missed a putt that seemed like a sure thing. Still down 1 with two to go. We both birdie the par 3 17th to go to the final hole with TheJokker still holding a 1up lead. I hit my approach on 18 just a little long, but the putt looked to be dead straight. About that time I see that TheJokker has come up short of the green, and misses the pitch to settle for par. Since my putt looked like it should be dead straight I am already thinking about the strategy on the first hole of sudden death. I hit the putt and wait for it to drop..it gives me an ariel view as I watch the putt slip by on the left....I could not believe my eyes. As Maxwell Smart would say "Missed it by that much" TheJokker wins 1 up with the final score tied. It doesn't get any closer than that! What a thrilling match. Probably the most fun I could have while losing a match. Congratulations my friend. Thanks to both Dude and MYG for coming along. They both hung right there with us throughout the match. Jeffro

I confirm the match as posted by Jeffro. As usally when Jeffro & I play it is anybody's match, we are probably about even in all the matches we have played. This obviously means that we both go into our matches trying to muster every ounce of concentration we have because we both know there is no room for ANY mistakes. Pro settings in high wind is obviously going to create a few mistakes although I feel we both shot very well considering the conditions and settings. Anyway you want to look at this we basically played an even match, Jeffro had one AHO and I had 2 AHO so we matched equally if we take away my extra hole-out. Thanx for the match my friend, last season you got me in the play-off finals and this season I got you, only suiting for our epic battles. I look forward to many more of our battles and I finally got a gold medal Thanx as well to MYG and Dude for sharing and adding to the excitement of this great match TheJokker
