Hey, I've just got a couple of quick questions... 1. I, relatively speaking, suck (especially at the pro level). While this doesn't bother me particularly and I hope to get better, should I avoid setting up tee times with the better players here because I'll slow them down? I'm not dallying or anything, I'm just not that good (annoying slice ) 2. I notice that you have scorecards printed for the tourneys... do we need to provide hole by hole scores or is the final sufficent?

Welcome, wyrm! Any WiiGAer will be happy to play with you. Playing the better players only helps you get better, and a lot of them will be happy to give you ideas in the chat room, both before and after the match.
It's advisable to keep your score hole by hole in case of disconnects. This is less important when you're playing a round that may or may not count. But when you're in an official round, either as a player declaring an official round or as a member of a match, then the WiiGA rules covering dconns comes into play: from the first hole to the last hole completed prior to the dconn is part of the official score. When you are able to resume play (meet in chat immediately following a dconn!), you must start the round over from scratch, but count the holes from the first attempt through to the last hole completed, and then count the holes from the first new hole through to the 18th for the total score. Here's an example:
You are playing in an official match, and play until your second shot on the 9th hole when a dconn occurs, following a fairly decent 27 on the first 8 holes. (NOTE: no WiiGA member will dconn intentionally unless there is an absolute emergency.) After the dconn go to the chat room. When everyone's back, one of you will restart the match. Enter the new match, and you will start again at hole 1. Play all the way through the front nine. Now you have two scores for the first 8 holes, the 27 you shot in the first attempt, and the amazing 25 you just shot. Keep playing, starting on the 9th, and play all the way through to 18. When you finish, you have a 29 on the front nine and 30 on the back nine, and your scorecard shows 59 for the round. But because you played the first eight holes only to get to the 9th and continue on, the scores you got from the 9th hole on are added to the 27 you shot initially, not the 25 you shot as you worked your way to the 9th to continue play. So your final score, given that 4 on the ninth hole, is 61, not 59. It is the 61 that you are obligated to report.
I hope that makes it clear- don't hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have.
G.

I notice that you have scorecards printed for the tourneys... do we need to provide hole by hole scores or is the final sufficent? Hi wyrm, Welcome to the Wiiga. On your 1st question, you will find that any member here will be glad to play a match with you. Don't worry about the speed of your play. Nobody is in a rush here. We are all happy to pass on tips and knowledge. I learned a lot from the players here when I joined up and still am. 2nd you will need to keep track of each hole in case of a disconnect. If it happens, you will restart the match and pick up scoring after the last completed hole. You don't have to report each hole, but just the total for each round. Hope this answers your questions for now. Feel free to post questions anytime or you can send a Private Message to any of the admins or other players. Good luck and see you in the games and chat hopefully. Dude

Is the pace of play not determined by the 30 second shot clock? Or is the question disregarding these penalty shots and just aiming for a good experience?

The shot clock is part of the game and penalties are included in the score. It usually becomes a non-issue with the amount played and as confidence builds for new players. Just part of the learning curve for all of us. Dude1956

Thanks for the answers. I always get in at 30 seconds, but I'm sometimes taking 5 shots when others are taking 3 and that was my concern.
I guess the scorecards make sense for the disconnections, I hadn't thought about that.
