Most of us have played many rounds of golf with our ‘Profile Golfer’ and we have most likely figured out how to get 75% power on a shot when we need it or whatever other power level we need. If you go and buy another swing or create a new custom swing, you have to figure where those percentages are all over again, because it is different with your new swing. So you go back and play a few rounds of golf on your system to re-establish how to get the percentage you are after.
As everyone knows there are two main variables in every shot that will make the ball go where you want it to go. The first is to READ THE SHOT. By this I mean check distance, elevation & wind to establish your club, power level & draw or fade if needed. The second variable is EXECUTION. This means you have to hit the power you want and also the twist of the remote could shank your ball. Both of these variables are equally important to put the ball where you want to put it. When playing a ‘Stock Character’ you still READ THE SHOT the same as before, that obviously does not change. Since the “Stock Character’ most likely has a different swing style than your ’Profile Golfer’, that is the challenge to playing a ‘Stock Character’, you must EXECUTE your shot properly. The Clubs in the ‘Stock Character’s’ bag are most likely different that yours as well, perhaps creating situations you normally would not encounter. This makes you have to shot low percentage shots more than usual.
The first thing I would recommend is to FEEL OUT the ‘Profile Character’ during practice rounds. WAIT, I didn’t mean THAT. HOGHEAD, don’t do THAT to NATALIE……..SLAP ! ! ! Dude, what were you thinking ? Oh yea, blame it on me, I wasn’t even finished talking yet ! ! ! Yea, yea, everybody talk to much. Oh, so now you say I just want to hear myself talk huh, doesn’t everybody ? Oh, I forgot, you’re used to communicating with a series of SNORTS. OK, back to what I meant by that…..SAY WHAT? Hold on dudes…….Yea, and your mamma has wings and made you with a roll in the MUDD ! ! ! ……SMACK…… Ouch man, WHY SO SERIOUS ? I was just JOKKIN around ! ! ! ……. OK man, now will you help me out of this lake, this is embarrassing dude ! ! ! dam man, now you got my notes all wet, how am I gonna give my speech now ? Sure, just WING it, that’s easy for you and those darn GOLF FAIRIES ! ! ! Calm down man and put down that DRIVER, I wasn’t DISSIN you or the fairies. I like golf fairies and I’m sure everyone else does to, take a CHILL PILL hog (didn‘t realize hogs were so quick).
OK, what I meant by FEEL OUT is when you do a practice round, don’t worry about the score. Use the practice to find the percentage of your clubs with the swing that stock character uses. Don’t just drive at 110% every time, try to find 100%, 85%, 70% so you can hit that percentage when you need it. This is especially important during your approach shots, with your irons and wedges. The amount of back swing may be different between the woods, irons and wedges. It will also be different during a pitch shot or a punch shot. Experiment during your practice rounds, the score don’t even matter. Go back to the basics like you did when you first started playing your profile golfer. Do this for your first practice round, then go all out on your next practice round.
Another little tip is to use punch shots. I don’t usually use punch shots over about 85 yards but they are great to find a better club length if your full shot is to long or to short. I almost always use punch shots between 50 and 85 yards, depending on the pin placement in regards to hazards because the punch shot needs room to roll.
So when you take a stock character out for your first spin, FEEL OUT his swing and clubs, forget about the score and find your basic 4 percentages with your swing first. Go for it on the second round ! ! !
