One of the tools I have been using lately for shot making is changing the loft for distances. If the shot I want to make is between clubs, instead of trying to dial in my swing, I will adjust the loft to compensate for the distance.
If my 100% swing shows I am going past the target, I will increase the loft to shorten the shot. It is approximately 5 yds of difference per click on the loft. Conversely, if my shot is going to be short of the target, I will decrease the loft accordingly.
For example: if my shot shows 15 yds past the intended target, I will increase the loft by about 3 or 4 clicks. Of course you must also allow for wind and lie.
I use this mainly on drives and fairway shots. The pitch and wedge shots are a little easier to control with the swing for me.

I usually use draw and fade in those situations, Jokker, but as you've said, sometimes it still doesn't work just right depending on the shape of the green. If you combine loft and draw/fade, you can get the ball to pretty much stop where you want it to, but it gets tricky trying to pull of a perfect shot with that much shape to it.

Dude,
How do you adjust the loft during a game while you are playing?
Can you do this on offline games, tournements as well as on line?
Thanks,

I know you addressed this to Dude-
But I will chime in and Dude can add or correct anything I may not spell out clear enough.
In either on line or off line matches....you just point at the club in the circle...as in most cases off the tee on a par 4 or par 5 you will see the driver. You will see the arrow pointing to the right in an upward slant. Use the wiimote to point at the club in the circle. Then press the "B" button or trigger on the back of the wiimote. This will allow you to grab the arrow and change the loft.
Be careful to not adjust too much or you will fall short of the target. As Dude mentioned it takes off about 5 yards for each click up.....adds 5 yards for each click down.
Let me know if this is not clear or you need more help with it.

Thanks jeffro. All I can add is that the circle with the club head is in the lower right hand corner on the screen, assuming that you are shooting right handed.
Remember also that the more loft the greater effect wind will have on the balls travel. Hope this helps Mustang66x2.

As Dude mentioned it takes off about 5 yards for each click up.....adds 5 yards for each click down. This is a great tip. After getting a feel for the basics of loft adjustment, you may want to check out another excellent discussion that also involves similar considerations: " How to adjust for Rough & Bunker shots": In particular, I found ClaudeRuff's method to be very helpful: I like math as well, but I usually try a simpler approach. If my lie says 78%, I just push the "A" button and scroll up and down on my "D" pad until I see 78%. That's what I get if I hit it 100%. Of course, I take into account how far above or below the hole I am, plus side hill lie, wind ect.
Sometimes my clubs will overlap with their percentages, so I just judge where my 100% shot will go. I then back down on percentage of power with my swing to adjust if my aiming circle is past the hole.

Use the wiimote to point at the club in the circle. Then press the "B" button or trigger on the back of the wiimote. This will allow you to grab the arrow and change the loft. you can also point away from the screen, hold "B" and tap left to add loft, or right to take loft away. be aware practice shots will reset your loft setting back to the default.

I'm finding that in the example above, where the lie indicator shows 78%, when I move the circle back to see where the 78% puts me I have to move it back to 100% when making the adjustments. If I leave the circle back at the 78%, and adjust from there, I will come up severely short.
While I have the circle at the 78%, I make note of the distance, in yards, and make my adjustments based on that figure, but starting from the 100% position and ignoring the distance in yards noted by that 100%.

I am finding loft adjustment with button B very sensitive with M+. It's like I my hand is twitching. Is there some Wii adjustment that will reduce the sensitivity of this process.

PAW, Instead of pointing at the screen and moving the loft, try this... Hold down the B button and press left (increase loft) or right (decrease loft)... You can also change clubs by holding down B, and pressing up and down to change clubs. Hope this helps, feel free to follow up if this does not make sense Later, SkinniePost
