ike i use the %shot exclusively.there is no secret to it realy. what you have to do is go off line and learn your swing inside and out. watch your % when you hit your shot you will eventually learn how for back to take your backswing to hit the %you want. once you know this it will become easy to hit the % s you are trying to hit. once again the most important thing is knowing your swing. also be sure to have a consistent down swing as swinging harder or easier will change your %.

Seeing we're talking about % shots can anyone get below 51% if so what am I doing wrong. I bet I can't count on one have below a 51%. I might have gotten a 38% but who knows maybe it was an AHO.

fire you obviously are not using mplus. the lowest %i can get w/o mplus is 51%. i found that when using my mplus i can hit any % i want to hit. it is an obvious glitch in the gm when using m-. frank i agree with you wholeheartedly learning both methods is the way to go.i can use the loft method but the % is much more comfortable for me.

When I play I almost never adjust my loft, I adjust my distance with my % of power. I have a very straight swing, smooth, fairly stiff & with no twist.
Regardless of how much power I need, I have a consistant swing speed, my adjustment is done with the length of my backswing or with a slight swing speed adjustment, or both
Low power ) To hit at 50%-60% - I draw back to where my club is straight out from my knee, club level to the ground, with a smooth and medium speed swing, I slow my swing down a touch from my normal speed
3/4 swing ) To hit at 75%-80% - I draw back to where my club is half way between ( low power ) and the straight up postion, hold for just a second - 3/4 swing - and just take my normal swing
Sweet Spot ) To hit 88%-90% power - I draw my club back to straight up, hold for just a second to level out the position of my club - and just take my normal swing
Full Swing ) To hit 100% power, I speed up my swing, with the same swing style. If I try to KILL it, it will twist just a touch and you are off target. Smooth and fast is easy when you maintain a stiff arm and a loose grip, then 100% every time

i always hit between 90 and 100 percent but use the loft method...i find it easier to hit with a full swing than tricky little half and three quarter swings. sometimes on a tricky pin placement, rather than get to close i leave about 65 metres to the pin so i can hit a full shot.

i am also a pure % player and use M-. i watch the golfer on the screen; thru practice i've learned where the club should be to achieve the desired %. for instance: if i want 75% the club on the screen is nearly vertical to the ground.
the club position is different for the pitch, punch and flop shots. For these, 100% is about where 80-85% would be for full swing.
as an M- user there is a bit of glitch with this method for the chip shot. i usually don't get any on screen feed back for the back swing until i've reached 100% so i don't use the chip shot much unless it calls for a percentage greater than say 85% and i try to line up the shot expecting 100%.
my follow thru is probably very odd. i stop at my leg - which i believe generates quite a kick. i've been able to (at time) get percentages below 50% by allowing the follow thru to continue past this point with a softer forward stroke - but not on a consistent basis - so when i need that kind of percentage one of the other shot types usually works quite well.
like dad said it takes practice practice practice. good luck

I use loft almost exclusively- almost! For shots under 65% I use a one-handed swing from a regular golf stance instead of the casting method (with M+) and take a few practice swings to reaffirm the amount of backswing. I try to keep the follow through smooth and even so that the backswing controls the amount of power. I can get percentages from about 22% on up.

I use the m- full power method too. Sometimes it is better to change the club, provided you have the right one in your bag. For lower shots i change my loft, but that method is very tricky by "definition of a click". In fact, practice is the key, try to remeber all courses, holes, wind conditions, which club used after tee off. OK, that is a enormous extravagantly method, but believe me all great players do that and play some courses in sleep in one hand the remote, in the other the beer ;D. Ok, a little bit exsessive but it is how in the real life, you learn many things and you call away this know when you need everytime in every situation.

I think the <65% is where it gets tricky for me and a part of my game that needs work.

i have my driver set at 337 yrds. i do this because my best %shots are in the 60 to 75 % range and this driving distance leaves me in that range more often than not.

I use M+ because I thought you had to when the new game came out(hence it was included when I bought the game). I could pretty easily golf -18 to -20 on TW09 and got pretty good at it. Now, when I tried to go M- on 2010, I had no luck at at. My shots were all over. It's like I had taught myself to swing during the first 5 months with 2010 with M+, and now I can't go back...
Anyway, I never used the LOFT method because I didn't know exactly how it worked. So I always used the % method. This took a little practice, but became pretty good at it, because I used it exclusively up until I joined here. But, since I have read some of the tips and learned a little more how the LOFT adjustments work? I have shaved probably a stroke or maybe even 2 off my scores. Notice how I was fluttering around top 40 on the daily AM's, and not I am almost always in the top 20(sometimes in the top 10).
That was the difference...
When I am inside 60yds, and I dont have a clear punch/pitch, I will use the % shot because I have it in the bag. I'm just not as consistent with it as I am changing loft and swinging 100%.
