Playoff game 2 - Oakmond Firestricker vs Claus Fire won decisively 5 - ?. Great game Fire, as expected. If the rest of the playoff games are windy and rain i will hereby forfeit. So whoever has to play me for rank whatever can rake in the win. When I saw the conditions before we teed off i wanted to cut off and give you the win, but i thought what the heck. I usually never play those conditions and wont, not even for "fun". I am a fair weather player, also in real life. Nevertheless Fire, you played VERY well and deserve the win. Good luck for the remainder of the tourney. Greetings, Claus Claus, I'm glad you played today instead of forfeiting because I would have not excepted the win that way. As for the conditions I was as surprised as you were when it was windy and raining today. Yesterday it was dry but still as windy there. The settings effected play today so by no means does one game make. Today was my day, tomorrow will be yours. In the Bags/WiiGa match I took a beating from Zach and someday I might be able to return the "favor." Just remember it's all fun no matter who wins. Fire I confirm the game as 5 and 3 FireStricker winning. I'll have a game write-up tomorrow so stay tuned. Tier three winner of season two FireStricker seeded 7th will face off against Claus54 seeded 2nd in the season three quarter final game. Another " A buck ten plus" seniors game will tee off at Oakmont. As was in the first game Fire also hasn't faced off much against Claus who is on the heralded leader board but in the games played against each other Claus likes to slow the game down too. Fire has often gotten kidded about his 60 second clock in games. All I can say to you o that is wait until your on the downside of middle age and you'll see you'll do everything slower. Excuse maker Fire has already told you about his dislike for slow and soft greens so when you hear him say that high wind, especially tailwinds, play havoc with his game I can envision all of you rolling your eyes. Fire and Claus set up a window of 90 minutes to play because of a doctors appointment to Claus' son so in the mean time Fire plays a couple of practice runs. A fun game the day before had fair sky's and wind but game day had rain and wind so Fire knew it was going to be a long day. High wind, 59% greens and tons of downhill approaches. Yikes Hole 1 Par 4 Wow, Only 10 mph cross winds... Sweet. Claus starts out dead center in the fairway and when Fire's 356 yard drive blows by Claus' ball by plenty it looked like Claus left his driver in his bag for course management. Claus' puts the pressure on right away as his approach leaves him with a makable putt. Downhill approach has chicken man pull out a punch and run to 8 feet from the pin. Both make birdie. AS Hole 2 Par 4 Another manageable 11 mph headwind onto the right to left slopped fairway laves Fire on the rough of the fairway 313 yards away. Again Claus applies pressure with his approach and Fire follows suit with a thumper 5 feet from the pin. Both make birdie. AS Hole 3 Par 4 Now the winds start with a 25 mph right to left cross wind that is perfect for Fires tuned driver but the dead center drive coupled with a right to left down hill slope leaves him on the edge of the rough again. The rough forces Fire to down club two clubs but it was perfect as the thumper was rumbling away. Claus wasn't so lucky as he ended in the trap to give Fire an early lead. Fire 1UP Hole 4 Par 5 More winds this time 28 mph headwinds almost has Fire in the first set of traps as he just clears them. Needing a 3W to have any chance at making green for eagle attempt Fire gets too greedy as he forgets the 2nd set of sand traps he has to go over with the low trajectory of the 3W. As`soon as he saw it in the air he knew he made a huge mistake and started using $%^&U* words just before it went kaput in the sand. Fortunately Claus' 2nd shot didn't hit green and when the dust settled we both carded a par. Whew!! Fire 1UP Hole 5 Par 4 A high risk or reward hole and a 11 mph tailwind Fire tries to hit the the narrow strip leading up to the green but misses and lodges the ball into the front of the gully. Claus plays safe and clubs down to the end of the fairway. Claus hits a perfect approach for an easy putt while Fire pitches up and leaves himself with a 15 foot putt. Both make putts for birdie. Fire 1UP Hole 6 Par 3 OMG, Another tailwind but this time Fire's ball goes screaming by the pin and luckily the wet sand trap smothers his ball to stay in bounds. Claus' ball goes by the pin but stays on the dance floor leaving him with quite a lengthly birdie putt. My pitch is terrible, the putt is horrible and and when Claus lags his putt up to the hole his par wins the hole. AS Hole 7 Par 4 Claus hits safely onto the fairway and Fire still babbling to himself how he butchered that last hole looks at an 18 mph right to left tailwind to put him at 370+ yards down the fairway. Both players 2nd reach the dance floor and when Claus goes around the hole and Fire makes his 14 footer the lead is back for the old man. Fire 1UP Hole 8 Par 3 With honors and a 28 mph headwind the foul language starts again when Fire comes well short of the green. A sigh of relief is exhaled when Claus does the same thing so a pitch and a putt square the hole. Fire 1UP Hole 9 Par 4 IMO, This is where I thought the game turns good or bad depending on which player you are. After Fire hits a 343 yarder into the fairway and in match play as you know you have the view of the ball and Claus' ball is squarely between 2 little sand traps in the church pews resting on rough. never been there before but things got worse for Claus as his ball jettisoned off the rough into the trap on the right front corner of the green. A approach shot thumper seals the deal on hole 9. Fire 2UP Hole 10 Par 4 Another 25 mph right to left leaves Fire in same place as hole 3, left side rough. Claus' approach just misses green while Fire's lands way left of the pin 32 feet away from the promise land. When Claus has to chip instead of putt Fire was feeling good about his chance to tie the hole but when the putt dropped this was truly the back breaker that this reporter thought that the last hole was. Fire 3UP Hole 11 Par 4 To Claus' credit he comes out with a vengeance instead of folding tents. His drive and long iron puts him next to pin while Fire's drive and 1I puts him in the trap to cut Fire's lead by one. Fire 2UP Hole 12 Par 5 Another right to left tailwind sees Fire safely down fairway 364 yards away. Claus' drive is safe and his second shot ends up in the rough and Fire follows suit to join him in the same deep stuff. Both pitches are almost identical around 12 feet from the pin. Claus is a tad longer and he drains his birdie putt. Fire breathing deeply and wiping palms of sweat makes his putt also. Fire 2UP Hole 13 Par 3 Par 3's have been a challenge today for both players and this one will follow suit. Wicked cross winds hamper dialing into the pin but for the first time today both players are on the deck in one. When Fire buries his 30 footer Claus can't match. Fire 3UP Hole 14 Par 4 Another right to left crosswind goes terribly wrong for Fire as he goes so far left it looks to be on the way to an OB. Whew no OB. Claus' drive is just off the fairway in the rough but had a horrible side hill lie and wasn't surprised when it went with the wind missing the green wide left. Clubbing down three, aiming way into the wind and a lot of praying Fire's putt will be 39 feet away. Claus' pitch is inches from the pin and when Fire sinks the 39 footer Claus goes another down. Fire 4UP Hole 15 Par 4 More right to left tailwinds, Fire's 367 drive and lucky approach to make the green and Claus' drive and miss set up a pitch by Claus and another 25+ putt for Fire. Fire 5UP Game ends at 5 and 3 for FireStricker. Claus I know you were pretty down about your game but we both played under some pretty extreme condition with the only difference was the insane putting I had today. My putt preview was almost dead on all round. Would love to have been playing PRO today the way I was putting. I take that back if I was playing PRO I would be 3 putting all day. Good luck in your next round

Official - Rd 1 @ Oakmont
zachf31 defeats Mark1772 1up in 9-hole playoff
We each played the first 18 flawlessly--no one took a lead and no one missed a shot, as we finished with stroke play scores of 47.
On the first playoff hole, Mark lipped out his birdie putt, giving me a 1up lead (first in the match). We both missed the green on the D4 #2, and on the par 5 #4, I missed the green while Mark lipped out his eagle putt. We then went shot-for-shot the rest of the front 9.
Thanks for the challenge Mark, and good luck vs frenchy49 next rd!

I can confirm the score.
Zach played the better golf in my opinion - his shot making and proximity to the hole was generally better than mine albeit not by too much.
I thought I was onto a winner on the D4 17th I hit my tee shot to 10ft - Zach being the class act he is hit his tee shot to roughly 6ft.
The 1st playoff hole was a bit of a shaky one from me - I hit my approach to 25ft (nothing spectacular) and missed the putt - lipping out. Nerves or bad shot making was evident on the D4 2nd as we both missed the green. On the 4th (par 5) Z missed the green with his approach and I thought I have a chance here. I hit a great 3w to about 18ft and for some reason my putt missed - I honestly felt when I hit the putt we would be all square.
I wish you all the best in the semi final Zach.

Oakmont AM dadgotgame vs kenwin the video, ken is "dadhasgame" Hole 1 - dad spot on with his approach. ken's 29 footer for bird makes it AS and ken feels bad as dad had a great app! Hole 2- A d4 normally, but not with these winds. LMFAO, ROFL ken pitches it in for the e, without spin. ken 1up Hole 3- ken misses the putt b/c of typing the write up and chatting while playing at same time. I'm not as good multitasker as Z dad lips Hole 4 - a d4 and ken makes it on in 2 for the E, while dad goes a little too far. ken 2 up Hole 5 - birdies Hole 6- Par 3. ken hasn't a clue with the 23 tail and safely puts it into the left bunker dad a tad long off the tee. We both par. ken up 2 Hole 7 - Both safely in f/w with the 20 mph left to right winds. dad puts it right there, while ken gets a thumper, adds a touch of spin to land 1 foot away for the tap in. Hole 8 - p3 tailwind, down hill. ken does full defloft and adds spin to make the green for a 14 foot birdie. dad goes right and into the bunker ken 3up and once again doing a Hole 9 - ken heads right off the tee, but the spin saves him. dad puts it in great shape. we each leave ourselfs with lengthy putts. dad just misses while kens preview was a tad off, but the adjustments put it in. ken 4 up Hole 10 - It's a killer as we both head left with the 18 mph winds. Both get par and head the heck out of there! Hole 11- Winds against us and to top it off, ken wacks an unwanted fade off the tee. dad lands in the little revine but his 2nd shot puts him on fringe and with a putter unfortunatley dad only wacks the putter a tad and settles for the par. ken makes bird. ken 5 up Hole 12- We both struggle with this P5. dad is off his game, ken goes long but drains the 61 footer for Eagle ken 6 up Hole 13 - P3 14 mph at us. ken birds to dads par. ken 7up I'd rather a miller lite, but hey, its game over. I've played with dad many times to know that he was not 100% tonight. We did have fun and that's all that matters. Thanks dad for the rds! - ken www.ustream.tv/recorded/13289371

Tmangrove beats Motnola 5 & 3
It rained sideways (33 mph) for a good part of the round and TMan had a great game in those conditions. It stayed close for most of the f9, but he ran away with it in the back, while I got to see parts of the course I've never seen before LOL
Great round Tman, good luck in the next level.

RichKelley def. DavidDuval 1up
Live Weather Channel threw rain at us. I shouldve checked first and faked a hamstring injury or something to postpone by a day as those conditions were brutal. RK went 1up on 3 and I got it back on 8 and we stayed all square until 17 where I couldnt find the green from a measly 270 yards lol . Rich hit 2 great clutch shots on 18 to seal the deal. Fantastic game RK and gl the rest of the way.

Wentworth:
Mark defeats Frenchy 2up.
Tough conditions with strong winds and rain too - we both managed to make it a competitive game.
Moments of interest in the game:
#1 a possible misjudgement of clubs by Frenchy which leaves a long birdie putt (which misses) Mark makes birdie 1up.
#4 I lip out for eagle - Frenchy makes eagle and the match is AS.
#8 We both make eagle on the D4.
#9 Frenchy makes a great recovery from the fairway bunker. AS after 9.
#15 Frenchy hits driver off the tee with a 25mph wind behind and finds the water hazard - he still makes par but I birdie to go 1up.
#18 I tried to hit a 87% 1i off the tee with a 23mph wind behind and found the fairway bunker (I knew I should have hit 5i) - Frenchy found the same bunker but was much closer to its face. I was able to get my 3w onto the green however Frenchy wasn't - I made eagle to win the hole and close out the match.
Thank you for a great game Frenchy.

Yes , yes , yes , a very great match under the storm !it was very exciting ....I selected a wrong club on the first hole for my second shot , and get a putt of 20 meters with elevation , , and missed for sure to go 1down ! ......After i made eagle on the first par 5 where mark lipped out to make only birdie ....Then , we played both an awesome match without mistake to the 15th ! 15hole : i though i was able to drive the fairway and maybe to hit the green with 25mp/h wind to the green , but maybe it was possible with power focus and from blue tee , but never from black tee ;D ...and , for sure i hitted the rough and found the water in the only little river of WENTWOTRH ! ....we both eagled the 17th and on the 18th , we both found the beach , but mark made an awesome recovery to hit the green and me i tried to use my 3W from the bunker , but my ball went only 10 meters from the bunker ..... Good game mark and good ,luck for your next match ! frenchy

Playoff 3 Wentworth Dadgotgame vs Claus54 Claus conceeded at 3-8 because of the, for me, unplayable weather and course conditions. as i wrote before, i aint gonna play those conditions - rain and gale - anymore and i request to be put down as a CONCEEDED in the remaining payoff game against ?. its a pity but i play the game for fun. as long as any tourneys have those conditions i will not compete anymore or conceed as soon as i start the game and and rain/windy/game pops up. sorry for the unsportsmanlike conduct but i have discussed it wih DGG and he understands. good luck DGG for teh last game. claus

i hope the trny committeee will not only hear this but also listen. these conditions taint any win a player gets. dad Regarding the use of gale force winds: Gale winds have not been used since season 5 of TW10. Many players felt it to be unrealistic, hence why it doesn't get entered into the equation when setting up the courses. With TW11, the winds are tied into the course conditions. This meant that we could not have expert course conditions because it would include gale force winds. Instead, we were limited to easy, normal, and hard course conditions. The winds for those are easy=calm, normal = breezy, hard = windy. All play-off rounds are played with the "LIVE Weather" option. Yes the winds have been high @ Wentworth for all the rounds that have been played so far. We will see what TW12 brings us, and will make adjustments accordingly. - ken

The Live Weather Channel only controls whether it is Sunny, Overcast or Rainy... That's it.
The wind being so high is from the difficulty settings for the course being set at Hard = Windy Conditions.
We really wanted to offer the challenge of fast greens for the season rounds, so we were forced to accept Windy Conditions as well... Due to the poor online setting design the game presented to us. This should be fixed next year (TW12), since the wind can be set independently (i.e. not tied to the course condition settings). I imagine if the AM players are not in favor of using Windy Conditions... A poll could be created to see if it could be removed from the available options? But, we will also have to wait and see if the Weather Channel once again controls the wind in TW12, when the Forecast Channel is used... Then make further decisions upon how it will be incorporated into TW12 Season #1. Just some thoughts, since it seems some people may not enjoy the Windy settings for competitive matches.
Peace, SkinniePost

Peace, SkinniePost I would just like to point out that i played wentworth twice this week on forecast mode and both times i got rain, i checked the local weather forecast and both times it was supposed to be dry. In my opinion the forecast mode is a bit random.

OFFICIAL RD 2 @ WENTWORTH zachf31 defeats HolyHutton 4 and 2 We both got off to terrible starts, with each of us parring #1 and #3. I got up 2 after birdie-ing #5 and #7, but Holy birdied #9 to to make the lead just 1. I got up 2 again after I birdied 13, and won 15 and 16 when Holy got stuck in the trees to end it at 4 and 2. HH recorded the game, which you can view here.

AM fight 2 consolation match Dude1956 defeats Jturner125 5 and 3. Dude played some great golf. I on the other hand... It was fun playing - thanks for the match Dude - had a wonderful season 3! JT JT seemed to have found my playoff luck for this match. I managed to hit a little straighter in this round than in my last couple of games and lucked out in the end. Thx for the game JT and it was fun as always. Dude

Wayknow defeats Stukenny 3 and 2
A great match at a very wet and windy Wentworth.I got very lucky as Stu missed a few putts that he normally makes with his eyes closed.Great match Stu..I know that next time the results probably won't be the same.

The season three semi finals of flight 2 will see FireStricker the 7th seed facing off against KenW the 3rd seed. First time these two have faced off head to head so we’ll see how entertaining it’ll be. Fire’s waiting in anticipation of what KenW will use for a persona as he likes to change them up as he plays his games. Thinking something like FireExtinguisher or FireSmoke he isn’t totally surprised when he comes on as WaterBucket. Could it be because of the anticipated rain from the forecast channel or was it to put tut the old mans fire. Before the game starts all KenW has to say is he was bringing an umbrella, high boots and a bullet proof vest. A bullet proof vest what has he heard about the old man from Massachusetts. As we tee of he adds that he should have been the blue player and Fire should have been the red player. Fire almost recanted with haven’t you ever heard of blue fire. lol
Hole 1 Game starts out with a 16 mph right to left tailwind featuring KenW with the honors. The left to right slope leaves him in the rough and Fire immediately jumps all over leaving his drive center fairway 381 yards out. Ken has a little trouble digging it out although he finds the green with a quite a lengthily putt for birdie. First hole jitters and shot clock winding down Fire fails to club down enough with the elevation and leaves himself behind KenW. Fire misses his putt badly leaving it 3’ short while KenW drains his. KenW 1UP
Hole 2 Par 3 KenW has honors and leaves his what looks like what could have been a thumper and Fire even clubbing down two just makes the fringe of the green. Fire’s putt lips out to give KenW his second score in as many holes. KenW 2UP
Hole 3 23 MPH right to left cross winds pushes KenW under the trees on the left side if the fairway. Fire been there done that knows he’ll most likely go with a punch on his 2nd shot concentrates on his drive to leave him dead center 353 yards out. Fire watches KenW make the green leaving him with quite a long putt. Seeing an opportunity to get himself inside of him for an easy putt only comes half true. He was inside of him but not by much so the easy putt was out the window. KenW’s putt just goes right by a smidge and when Fire holes his putt for bird the lead is cut in half. KenW 1UP
Hole 4 Par 5 With a shaky three holes to start the round Fire is giving himself a pep talk. The pep talk didn’t work as Fire leaves his drive in the rough on the right but KenW gives him hope as he finds the rough also. The rain must have been heavy on the branches as Fire is totally surprised when he clips a low hanging branch and watches KenW who must be smelling blood find the deck for an easy putt. Hole 3 momentum goes by the board for Fire. KenW 2UP
Hole 5 Par 3 212 yards With a 19 mph tailwind and honors KenW leads off and Fires eyes must have been as big as saucers when he saw him miss the green short by plenty. Ask Fire the next time you see him how fast his eyes closed when his tee shot sailed off the back of the green. They settle for par. KenW 2UP
Hole 6 Par 4 KenW puts his tee shot to the right side rough between the two sand traps and Fire matches the book ends to the left rough. Fire is psyched when his thumper leaves him 3’ from pin but soon comes back to earth when KenW matches it. KenW 2Up
Hole 7 Par 4 Serviceable drives by both. KenW’s approach stays on the green by the wet grass resting on the fringe but Fire gets a thumper and try’s to coax it in the hole but leaves himself with a 10 footer. Knowing KenW takes 100% putts Fire isn’t surprised that his missed putt ended up further way than his original. KenW’s two putt cuts his lead to one. KenW 1UP
Hole 8 Par 4 With 18 mph cross winds a chance at the green is fruitless so Fire pulls out his 1I and leaves it in the first fairway. KenW comes dangerously close to a ditch at the end of that fairway but has no trouble getting inside of Fire’s 13 footer. KenW 1UP
Hole 9 Par 4 452 yards Fire’s mediocre 315 foot drive comes awfully close to a horrendous lie in the rough and looks at KenW’s safer spot behind him. KenW would have liked his approach back I think as he leaves himself further from the pin that he would have liked. Have no fear KenW, Fire ends up in a place he didn’t want to be and that was behind you. Both make their long birdie putts. KenW 1UP
Hole 10 Par 3 184 yards 24 mph tail winds oh my. Even on more manageable winds Fire always ends up in the same place far left just off the green. Clubbing up 2 clubs still leaves him in exactly the same place far left and just off the green. Jeez… Fire gets a break as KenW follows him into the same area and they both get up and down for par. KenW 1Up
Hole 11 Par 4 416 yards A little desperate Fire tries to get a little distance off the tee but clips the top of the trees and leaves himself in the left rough off the fairway. KenW plays safe and finds the fairway. His 2nd shot is placed nicely on the green within decent putting distance. Mad spin gets Fire to a foot of the pin to save the hole. KenW 1Up
Hole 12 Par 5 539 yards Fire ends in the right rough with KenW following into the left rough. Fire approach just squirts onto the green while KenW takes a different route this time which is a heck of a lot closer than Fire’s. Looking at a 70 foot eagle putt and the shot clock winding down Fire gets it off just in time. KABOOM EAGLE.. KenW’s breaker putt just misses right to knot the score. AS
Hole 13 Par 4 470 yards With a 25 mph tail wind and Fire pumped after tying the game last hole drives one center fairway. KenW not fazed follows suit with a beauty of his own. KenW adjusts for the tailwind and when Fire sees it on the fringe he says “Let’s do it” His approach is short leaving him with a 28 footer. Fire lips and KenW drains his to give KenW that big one hole lead. KenW 1UP
Hole 14 Hole 13 still in his head.. Missing a 28 footer while making a 70 footer on 12. So who can be surprised when Fire misses a 14 footer. KenW 2Up
Hole 15 Fire 2 down watches KenW use the 25 mph tail wind to make the creek on his drive and God only knows why Fire would follow instead of playing it safe on the first fairway. Fire fills KenW’s water bucket as he plays patty cake in the creek. GAME OVER. KenW 3UP
Hole 16 With game in hand KenW stays in the fairway while Fire finds the rough. Both on the green and Fire looking at a 38 foot putt if he misses which will end the game at 4 and 2. Fire holes it to save somewhat face losing 3 and 2.
Great game Kenw. I thought I might be able to steal one here but you are just too tough. Good luck the rest of the way.
Just to make it official... KenW wind 3 and 2 at Wentworh
