Announcing TW12, Season 3 for the WiiGA!
September 18th is almost here, so here are the specs for Season 3. Tourneys will be posted no later than September 18th
Tourneys
There will be 6 tourneys over 4 weeks, beginning at 8AM CST September 18th, and ending at midnight CST October 16th
There will be 6 tournaments specified for 4 weeks of the Season, but the tournaments may be played at any time during the season and in any order the member chooses. This season, the six rounds will be played at six different courses.
A tourney is comprised of ONE official round. An official round occurs when the official password is used to access a posted match.
Each tournament will be offered in three styles of play, AM, PRO, and TPX (TourPro) with corresponding leaderboards. All members may play freely in any or all styles for every tourney.
There are no replays of a round, so each official round counts. Exceptions exist for FUN and OBSERVER rounds only, as specified in the WiiGA Rules and Regulations.
When the Season has concluded all members who completed at least FIVErounds in any specific style of play will be eligible for matchplay playoffs in that style.
A minimum of FIVE rounds must be completed by the deadline for a player to be eligible for the playoffs. Only players recording official scores for FIVErounds of a tourney style will be entered in the playoffs flights for that style. For players who play SIX, the best FIVErounds, based on score to par, will be counted. All FIVErounds will be counted for those who play exactly five rounds.
Matchplay Playoffs
The playoffs will be structured in flights based on season rankings so that members compete against other members of similar skill levels and within the same style of play. There will be flights of approximately 8 depending on the number of players available. There will also be a Consolation Bracket (for 5th place), involving those knocked out in round 1 of the playoffs. There will also be a playoff for third place. This ensures that all players who make the playoffs will play at least 3 rounds.
The number of flights will be determined by the number of members who complete all tourneys within a style of play. Champions for each flight will be identified and receive champion awards. Details for how many flights for each style and how many rounds within flights will be worked out following the end of regular season play and announced between October 16th and October 19th. Matchplay will run from the time of pairings announcement through midnight CST November 6th.
This season, all playoff rounds and the settings will be posted at once. This will help to move the playoffs along faster because you can play your opponent at anytime, instead of waiting a week.
Sign-ups will be required to play in the play-offs.
A courtesy PM (for those who do not sign up) will be sent to members who complete at least five rounds.
Deadlines will be set for each round of play when pairings are announced. Players are required to both post tee time requests in the Playoff Tee Time thread and to send PMs to their opponents working out tee times for each round of the playoffs. This establishes a record of attempts to set up matches. Players who are non-responsive and cause a pairing to miss a deadline for completion will be disqualified by the Tournament Committee and their opponent allowed to move ahead to the next round. Rulings about disqualifications by the Tournament Committee are final.
In case of ties related to the playoffs, the following rules will apply:
* Rank ties for seeding from the regular season will be resolved by each player's median score to par. The median is found by taking the "middle" score of all your played rounds (not just the five that count). For example, if you played five rounds, the median score would be the third-best. If you play six rounds, the median is the average of the third and fourth best rounds. The median is a more complete picture of "consistency" because it isn't affected by your very best or very worst rounds. Should two players who are already tied have the same median score to par, the next tiebreaker will be to drop each player's best and worst round to par and calculate their new total score. (If you have rounds of -15, -16, -17, -18, and -19, and -25, you would drop the -15 and the -25 and take the average of the remaining four.) In the case that both of these tiebreakers are the same, the player with the best round overall to par will be ranked ahead of the other player.
* Tied playoff rounds at the end of 18 holes in the playoffs will also be resolved by playing an additional 9 holes to determine a winner. Game should be set up for a full 18 holes in case players remain tied after the front 9, in which they then continue onto the back 9. The match continues, until an advantage is gained by one player. That player shall be declared the winner.
Settings
The following settings will be in force during Season 3 of TW12:
* All matches are 18 holes and Unranked.
* Any putting style will apply to AM. Precision is required for both PRO and TPX.
* Members may use their personal profile or any stock profile wish. There will be no tournament this season enforcing the use of a designated stock player.
* Tourney courses will be selected randomly from the entire list of courses, excluding the fantasy courses.
* Pin Placement, Course Condition Settings and Weather will be selected randomly. Season 1 will have rain included as a possible condition, should it pop up. All such settings will apply to each of the three styles for each tourney. The Tee Boxes will always be Black, except for Augusta, where they will be ''masters".
*Playoffs again this season, will have LIVE WEATHER forecast. This will test the players ability when facing their opponent one on one.
* AM settings are Standard Swing Difficulty and normal Game Play (see note). AHO's will be turned OFF during the playoffs, (normal game play).
* PRO settings are Advanced Swing Difficulty, and Hard Game Play Difficulty.
* TourPro settings are Tour Pro Swing Difficulty and Tournament Game Play Difficulty (which includes yardage markers and removes putt meter).
* Shot Clock should be set to 30 seconds for AM and PRO and 40 seconds for TPX.
* Focus should be set to ON for all matches. Read Below
All games should be set up with Any Swing Difficulty and Any Game Play Difficulty, so anyone can play. All players will then switch to the correct settings at the first tee prior to the start of the match... Except if the group is all playing the same style, then it can be set before the match, so no revisions are required at the first tee. Focus should only be chosen if you are playing the AM style, otherwise for both Pro and TourPro it should be left on No Focus for the match
Each member is responsible for having the correct settings throughout the entire match. If a member discovers that his/her settings are incorrect during a match, the member is obligated to complete the match but to take a penalty of 6 strokes. In the tradition of golf, each member is responsible for his/her own compliance.
Miscellaneous
* You may practice a tourney and the different settings as much as you like. It is recommended that you use the Practice sub-board of the Bulletin Board and the password wiigap to set up practice rounds with other WiiGA members. Please reserve the Tournament Tee Times sub-board and the tournament password for official matches.
* All 5 tournament specifications for each of the three styles will be posted by midnight CST, September 18th.
* We encourage members to augment Season 3 by setting up their own tourney events. If you have ideas for member event and need some help, just ask any ADMIN and we will happy to assist.
* All members are expected to have reviewed the WiiGA Rules and Regulations and the About the WiiGA document on the Rules and Regulation board before beginning play for Season 3 of TW12.
* HAVE FUN!!!
