I LIST THIS AS THIRD CONCEPT FOR A REASON. YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE FIRST TWO CONCEPTS BEFORE YOU CAN GET FULL BENEFIT FROM THIS BAG. IF YOU JUST DROP IN THIS TUNE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THE DIFFERENT SHOTS IT OFFERS IT WILL HURT YOUR GAME MORE THAN IT HELPS! Ok, everybody knows that your bag tune is critical to your game. Based on everything I know so far, I created the below tune. I can not say it is perfect or that I will keep it forever. I can say that it is solid enough that I am going to play 100 rounds with it before I make any changes. Also, everyone’s game is different, so it requires a different tune, so I can not say this will work for you. Not all my figures below are exact to the click, but most are close. For maneuverability and Draw / Fade, I set the same for all clubs. I set maneuverability 10 clicks to the right of lowest setting. This gives me forgiveness on missed shots but gives me enough play to shape a shot when I need too. For draw / fade, I set 10 clicks to the fade side of center. Read strategy concept 1 for more details on this. Driver: Distance is most important. Power = 100%; Loft = 10 clicks right of center; Spin = 25 clicks right of center. Distance is not the ONLY factor, as this tune gives me 338 yard driver when max tune is 340. The extra loft and softer landing I get with this tune improves my FIR% and is worth the loss of 2 yards of distance. Woods: Distance key, but softer landing more important than driver. Power = 100%; Loft and spin both 15 clicks to the right of center. Irons: Proper spacing of full-swing distances most important. Softer landing is second most important. Power = 80% (100% power makes gaps between clubs to big imo); Loft and spin both 15 clicks to the right of center. Wedges: This is all about the gaps between shot distances. I looked at full, punch, pitch and flop shots. I wanted spacing between all options so I was never between clubs for anything within 150 yards. Loft and spin affects the shot types slightly different so I just kept playing with until I found the spacing I liked. Power = 5 clicks from max; loft about 22% from left; spin about 33% from left. Here is the end-result. Note that for a given course I might use the 3 or 7 wood instead of the 5, or I might drop a wedge and pick up a second wood or another iron. Club | Full | P-low | P-high | Pitch | Flop | Chip | 8.5 Drive | 338 | 306* | | | | | 5 Wood | 294 | 277* | | | | | 1 Iron | 258 | | 237 | | | | 2 Iron | 249 | | 221 | | | | 5 Iron | 207 | 162* | | | | | 7 Iron | 185 | 124* | | | | | 9 Iron | 164 | 106* | | | | | AW | 152 | 82* | | 45 | 47 | | GW | 143 | 77* | | 37 | 41 | | SW | 134 | | 71 | 27 | 36 | 9* | LBW | 115 | | 63 | 22 | 26 | | LW | 95 | | 57 | 15 | 17 | 7* | HLW | 78 | | 51 | 11 | 8 | |
*Woods land 70%, Irons 75%, Wedges 85%, chips completely roll.

I don't see the point in having a 2i that goes nine yds less than your 1i, and have a 42 yd gap between the 2i and 5i. What do you do the 85% of the time you can't use a punch shot from 215 yds out? Or on a par 3?
Also, how do you go about without a PW? With a PW, you could use a flop shot from 50 yds out instead of a HLW punch, or use a PW pitch instead of a HLW % shot when you need to hit over a bunker or the rough or up a hill.

Zach, go to club tune and hit the 1-iron and 2-iron punch. You really need to see it before we get much deeper. You will see what I am talking about!
I don't have a gap, I have the 237 and 221 shots! They actually have LESS roll than the 3 and 4 iron. Like they drop out of the sky. But you are right, I could easily drop the 1 or the 2 and still have decent coverage. But I have hard time leaving either one out of my bag since they get me two distances for the price of one!
Honestly, I think this is a game bug, but until they fix it, I am using it!

In regards to the pw... this is the detail of my wedge tune. I have the AW with a 47 yd flop, very close to the PW at 50. The spin is way down on my tune. So those bottom 4 wedge punch shots have almost all carry. 47 yard carry on the 51 and 52 yards carry on the 57. They really are pitches not punches. So you have one pitch at 60 yards from your PW. I have 51, 57, 63, 71 pitch options disguised as what EA calls punch shots. (so the HLW gains me the 78 yard full, 11 yd pitch and 8 yard flop over the PW)
This is why I put those 6 punches (4 bottom wedges and and top 2 irons) into their own column and call them punch high. Because they have full carry, not really punches. They are usable in all situations that need that distance of a shot.

But I have hard time leaving either one out of my bag since they get me two distances for the price of one! Honestly, I think this is a game bug, but until they fix it, I am using it! WOW. I just went to the tuner. My 1 iron punch has more loft AND less roll (by just a few yards) than a regular 3 iron. My 2i punch has about the same loft as my 3 iron full! And when I use my 3i punch...the maximum height is less than half of the 1i and 2i punch shots, with about 160 yds in the air and 40 yards of roll! Now, the question is...add the 5 wood or 2iron in place of the 3i? 5 wood would shorten the gap between my 306 yd 3W and 265 yd 1i. 2i would shorten gap between 1iron punch (245 or so yds) and 218 yd 5iron. By the way--the 5 wood (at least mine) has more loft than the 7 wood this year in addition to a few yards of extra distance. I believe this was a bug last year as well.

I think this thread has the wrong title. I believe it should be called " TW11 tuner, Biggest secrets revealed" AWESOME AWESOME tips 345!!!! You suggested I pick up a 2i last night, and so I did. I used it on 1 hole (P3) and had a thumper first time I ever used it! If it's good enough that Tiger carry's it in his bag, its good enough for me. Keep the tips/strategy flowing. At WiiGA, we are always exchanging info to help each other out. You have set the bar high with such detailed info and even included some sweet pictures. This helps us NON ''real golfers" !!!!! Enjoy the karma for your tips! - ken

Yesterday, I gave the above bag tune an acid test. I played a couple of career rounds at Torrey. The final round had expert pins, and was breezy. The one and two irons came into play on the two long par 3s. I was into the wind on the last one. I fully delofted the 2 into the wind on the last one, and OB off the back, but dead in line with the pin - LOL. The punch 1 would've been too long, and the punch 2 would have been too short.
The problem - Since I use the loft system (I have been investigating other things in the game), I tried the loft system with the punch 1 and 2. The range distance between fully lofted and fully delofted is about 6 yards for each, so while the punch 1 may give you a 3 iron distance it is not as adjustable as the 3I, and the same with the punch 2 and the 4 Iron distance.
So in club tuner, I fiddled with these two punch shots in a percentage swing. I could even get a consistent 41% shot. This turned out to be a consistent 150 yards on the stripe with the 1 punch. Pythagoras' bag tune will work if you've got a reliable percentage game. In fact, I'm convinced it is a better tune if you've got a reliable percentage game. In short, you need a reliable percentage game to work the punch 1 and 2 into good equivalent 3 and 4 Irons.
Maybe its time for me to develop the percentage game.

I fully delofted the 2 into the wind on the last one, and OB off the back, but dead in line with the pin - LOL. The punch 1 would've been too long, and the punch 2 would have been too short. I bet the 2 Iron Punch would NOT have been short on the hole you mention. I think EA math still treats them like punches so the wind would not have affected it as much! It like the listed yardage on the two punches is minimum distance - these shots take off! Yes, this is also because EA match treats them like punches, but keep in mind no one really carries a 3 and 4. So they need their 3 to adjust all the way up to the 1 and down to the 5. With the 4 shot distances of my tune, I only need my punch 1 (fake 3 iron) to adjust between my 2 and fake 4. So I don't think the less lofting distance range will be a factor once this gets honed in tight. Also, this is another factor (one that I did not even realize at the time) that makes the 80% power tune on my irons better than the 100% power with this set up. If you just swapped the clubs in your bag but have not dialed down the power to 80% - I can not be held responsible

Yeah, I kept power at 100%. Maybe I'll try those Torrey par 3s in a custom course with the new bag with mulligans on, and yes, at 100% power. My diesel pickup is between 500 and 600 hp. Don't tell my wife, but I'd like more. So, I'm not likely to back off on Iron power.

Maybe I'll try those Torrey par 3s in a custom course with the new bag with mulligans on, and yes, at 100% power. Okay I did it. More than that I tried the old, and the new on both Torrey 11 and 16 with expert pins, very hard and very fast greens, and calm conditions. That means the back right lobe on 11 and left front on 16. I started with the old bag, and number 11. Both are three iron shots with the old bag. The procedure: 1) Adjust loft. 2) Hit the ball 3) if it was not close enough for an easy birdie then repeat steps 1 and 2. 4) Go to next hole. 5) After getting dialed in with first hole each then repeat the holes with new wind conditions, and the dialed in loft percentages with modification for the new wind. OLD BAG RESULTS For number 11, it took about 4 adjustments to get sighted in, but it was really twitchy with open and closed. For 16, it took longer. It too is really twitchy with open and closed. Open goes by the pin about 20 ft. Dead straight to slightly closed is close, and just short of the pin. Once dialed in the old bag worked okay, but no thumpers. NEW BAG RESULTS Both shots are punch two irons except when there's about a 5mph tail wind on 16 which is covered by my five iron. First up number 11. First stroke gets a thumper! Next is 16. First stroke doesn't get a thumper, but is an easy birdie. Next time on 11 is an 8 mph head wind, so I hit a 10 click lofted 2 iron, and a thumper. Gone was the extreme twitchiness to open and closed. Open didn't result in 20 ft past. The new bag turns these two holes into cheese sandwichcats. Ah thinks I, lets give the percentage punch a try on Harbour 14. In expert pin that's pretty tight up against the water. I had already figured out that the punch 2 is the way to go for me because of the low hanging limbs in front of the black tee. So I figure out that it takes about a 74% shot. Not knowing what that is, I tried stiff wrist with backswing up to level with the floor. I get 78% and 15 feet by the hole. Its a fairly flat green to the pin, which I putt for birdie. Next time, there's an 8 mph wind directly from the left. Hold a little left, and voila a thumper. In fact, I never missed the green out of 9 tries. This test was sufficient for me to switch my bag. dadgotgame, it persuaded me of the benefits of the percentage game. Thanks for your work and posting, pythagoras345. Now I'm waiting to try that 41% 1 iron punch.
