The WiiGA points system works like this:
For every tournament you finish, you will be awarded points based on how you finished in that particular tournament. The player with the lowest tournament score total wins that tournament. The winner of a tournament will receive 1 WiiGA point with 2nd place receiving 2 points, 3rd place receiving 3 points and so on. When the season is complete, the player with the fewest points is seeded 1st for the playoffs. Before we get to the playoffs, let's look at an example from the DGA season III tournaments: You can see the results from season III here. I will use my scores as an example.
For season III, hoghead finished in this order.
Tournament 1 - 13
Tournament 2 - 1
Tournament 3 - 8
Tournament 4 - 4
Tournament 5 - 4
Tournament 6 - 4
Tournament 7 - 2
Tournament 8 - 6
Tournament 9 - 4
Tournament 10 - 5
My points total for the season is calculated by adding up the points I was awarded in each tournament. The total points for the season I received is 51. You are allowed to drop your lowest tournament finish, so in this case I would drop my first tournament. My adjusted total is now 38. To get my average tournament finish, I divide my adjusted total by the number of counted tournaments(9). 38 / 9 = 4.2. You can see how this all plays out if you look at the 2nd chart entitled Regular Season 3 Standings here. The 2nd chart shows that I did indeed finish 4th after the regular season.
Now that the regular season is over, it is time for the playoffs. For the playoff, the standings are adjusted. The player who has completed at least 7 tournaments is eligible for the playoffs. To adjust for the playoffs, the scores are reset to zero. The last eligible player for the playoffs according to the 2nd chart listed above is Buckrgrs. He starts out with 2 points and each player above him is awarded 2 points more than the player beneath them. Again, look at the 1st chart listed above entitled DGA - Season 3 final results here. So Buckrgrs starts with 2 points and snapjack43 starts out with 42 points.
Now we are ready for the playoffs. In the playoffs, each time you win and advance to the next round, you will be awarded points. Points are awarded as follows:
If you win:
1st round = 1 point
2nd round = 2 points
3rd round = 3 points
4th round = 4 points
5th round = 5 points
6th round = 6 points
and so on
So if you won 4 games before you lost, you would be awarded 10 points total in addition to your DGA points that were adjusted before the playoffs started. If you look at the playoffs here , you will see that I won in the 2nd round before I lost which means I was awarded 3 points. Any player who has a bye is awarded 1 point for the 1st round. So my total for the playoffs is 3 points. Now add 3 points to my adjusted total points of 36 and you see that I have a total of 39 points for the season. Again, you can see my total here located in the 1st chart in the last column. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator and they will be happy to assist you.
