Does TW09 general Game Settings just impact your game and not your opponents? (I think so) I realize Game Difficulty settings, like wind, impact both players but what about the other screen for Game Settings? I think it only impacts your game and not your opponents. After finally learning what an AHO was (from this great site!), I turned the Assisted Hole Out setting back on (I turned it off when I first got the game). Before this, I could not figure why when playing my friend online he would make many chip ins while I never made one. Now with AHO-on, I make just as many as he does. I did notice that with AHO-off you will still get the heartbeat when you make a laser-like long putt based on skill, but you'll never make a crazy chip-in or approach (without any spinning). Can anyone confirm/deny this? If this is the case, we should consider turning AHO-off for tourney play - it would make for a much more pure game.

You are correct in that the settings regarding your player do not affect your opponent. Enviroment settings on your system will affect your opponent IF you are the host of a game (difficulty settings).
This may sound odd considering how many online games I had played prior to joining this league but I did not even know about the AHO issue. I set all my game settings & difficult settings when I first purchased the game and just left them alone after that. I did realize that the game would assist my shots from time to time due to the percentage drop on my power that did not match the swing I used for the shot. I figured that was my 'Luck' attribute for my profile which was at 110%. After joining this league I went into my settings and found the AHO option, mine was turned off.
The DGA league preceded this league when I joined and they had tried a tourney with required settings, one of which was AHO off. I did not play that tourney but I believe this did not seem to improve the realizm of the game and created many problems.
Near the end of my first tourney I decided to turn my AHO back on just to see what would happen. I played an awesome match with giacomo and both of us had no AHO's at all, not even one. When my AHO was off during hundreds of online matches, I would get AHO's almost every game. I have to wonder if the settings on your system for AHO's have any affect for online play, could be a default online thing that is not affected by our settings. This issue is so big with so many members and non-members that I would hope EA has considered that for TW10, but it don't sound promising.
I still believe that the higher your luck is, the more AHO's you will get. Obviously you have to make a fairly close shot before the AHO feature will take over and put it in the hole. Although I have taken some shots in difficult situations where I am just trying to get near the green or hopefully on the green and to my complete surprise it starts pumping and goes in the hole. In a few of those situations, I don't even think I should have made the green, but certainly not in the hole, that was pathetic and did make me angry even though it helped me in my match.
After that one time I turned my AHO on, I have continued to play with it turned off. I still get more AHO's than a player should ever get, it is a very frustrating issue. During my first few matches in our tourneys I was very concerned about this issue so I double-checked my settings to make sure my AHO was off, and it was. I get way to many AHO's and I even used spin to keep it out of the hole a few times because I did not want my opponents to think I had my AHO turned on.
There is no solution to this problem that we have access to, its up to EA sports to fix this. It seems like EA is more concerned about adding new Bells & Whistles to the game than to fix this and a few other issues.

Thanks for the link to the old thread - 5 pages worth of comments! - guess I'm a little late coming to the party. I've only been a member for a few weeks, but it is easy to see that people join this league for good honest fun play. I love the fact that the Tourneys use stock players, the next best thing would be to turn off the AHO. All other 'cheater' settings are equal for all, AHO is too random. The same way we must have a 30 wind setting, we should also have AHO off. Some simple instructions on the Tourney set up page should do it. I was not a member when you guys had the No Cheat tourney, but it sounded like there may have been too many adjustments. Please consider AHO- off for future tourneys. Jokker do you want to give it a try in your windy June Tourney?

Jokker pretty much said it all, but the simple response is that we've played with AHO off and it makes no difference. We've also had many matches where AHO is on, and we receive none. So we just dropped the issue because it didn't seem to make any difference either way.
