Hey Clay- if you're using loft to adjust power the trick is that each audible click reduces power 5%. To get 1% increments you need to watch the screen to see the loft symbol flash with each rapid push of the button on the Wiimote. Five visible flashes equals one audible click. So if you have to hit the ball 83% you'll need 3 audible clicks and 2 flashes.

I use a pretty simple formula of 1 audible click for every 5 feet of elevation change. Puts me pretty close most of the time.

clay, it really depends on the trajectory of the club your using... I will explain furthur when I am typing on something other than my phone I will actually draw a graph to explain... Look for it tomorrow. peace, skinnie

although i dont keep any stats for reference, you need to keep in mind that 1 click (not audible) per % only really works for wedges. as you use more club it becomes less accurate. i.e- a 6 ir doesnt have 35 clicks so each click cannot = 1%. if it becomes neccecary to hit say 71% with a 7ir i never ty to click in 29 times. i will always max the loft then add 6 clicks, then a couple more to make sure im not short. same apply to hittin say 80% with a mid iron. i always go for around 18 clicks of loft not 20.

jeffrro told me that 7 clicks = 21yds 3yds per click neil said 29 times max the loft then add 6 clicks . im not that smart when it comes to this loft thing 1/4 of the time im guessing and on evelation its have the times. so i need alot of help just getting ready for tw 11.

ill try to clarify a little so to clear up confusion. when dealing with elevation/wind etc i use the general rule of 1yrd up or down = 1yrd of shot distance and 1mph of wind = 1yrd of distance unless into extreme head winds which always need that bit more.
what often gets confusing is audible/non audible clicks. i only use individual presses of the D-pad whick makes the club icon flicker. each press of loft= 1% of power, not 1 yard.
so when setting up i will make my adjustment for wind then include my elevation adjustment. whatever the shot% shows in the aiming circle. say 87% then increase loft by 13 presses of D-pad.
the point i made about mid irons is that they dont appear to have 35 individuall presses to max loft. max loft on all clubs = 65% shot power so it is more reliable to max the loft then reduce it by say 6 presses in order to find 71%.
i hope this is a bit clearer.

thanks to all of you who tried to help me but. Keep it simple Clay if it's screwing up your head. Just use jeffros' approach to elevation, forget about it and play. Vern

Hey guys, in my oppinion the best way to get the most success is learning by doing. The most of us use different clubs with different club tunings. My clubs for example are all tuned by loft, the range by full audible clicks is very different. Driver----app.6% power recuction Woods----8% Irons----10% Wedges----12% I had many many lessons in the club tuner and at many courses but every course is always different regarding the conditions. So, if you need some more help visit nochins website. tigerwoodspgatour.comCertainly it will helps you. MK

And changes in elevation are not static either it totally depends on the trajectory of the club, i.e. a wedge is coming straight down so elevation makes little difference, where as a 1I is flight on a relatively flat flight path and therefore elevation makes a huge difference... More to come. Peace, The Post

Clay as you know Im not one of the better players by a long way but here's my 2 pennies worth. That may avoid you having headaches with all the calculations
The CLUB TUNER
On a spreadsheet ( or even a grid drawn on a piece of paper)
I have all my clubs going down the left hand side of the paper
I have this for pitch shots and full shots. You could also do it for punch shots but I rarely use them.
Across the top of the paper I have clicks of loft going from +2 down to -7 ( again you could have it from +7 to _7)
I only use audible clicks
In the club tuner I take each club in turn and hit 5 shots ( whatever number you choose) at the default loft and fill in the average yards the shots go.
I take 1 click of loft off and hit 5 more shots and fill in on the paper the average distance the shots go.
I take of 2 clicks of loft and do the same.
I continue until I have all the distances with all the clicks of loft for that club
I move onto the next club and do it all again
Eventually my grid is filled with all th distances each club will go with all the audible clicks of loft.
Very time consuming but I now have the distance every club and every click of loft will travel. In many ways this would be like a tour pros caddy having a yardage book.
OUT ON THE COURSE
lets play my second shot to a par 4
The screen tells me its 140 yards to the pin
The hole is 20 feet up. Following No-Chins videos he allows 1 yard for every foot up or down up to a maximum of 10
So my shot is now 140yards + 10 Yards = 150 yards
The wind is 10 yards against me at 45 degrees so that's 5 yards directly against me.
Again No-chin allows 1 yard for each yard of wind so that's another 5 yards I need to add on 140 + 10 +5 = 145 yards
I look on my grid and find the nearest to 145 yards in my case 2 clicks off an AWEDGE is 144Yards
I select the AWEDGE take of 2 clicks. and take my shot.
I have 2 calculations only to make. 1. How much to add or subtract for elevation 2 How much to add or subtract for wind.
I save a fortune on headache pills
Of course you allow for all the other variable like moving the circle right if the wind comes from the right Moving the circle left if the ball is below my feet. I allow 5 extra yards if I have a 90% lie in the rough etc etc.
In the above shot if its say a hard green with some roll I might even take of another 1 or 2 non audible clicks
Lets try 1 more
I have 93 yards to the hole The wind is straight accross at 10MPH My lie is 90% in the rough The hole is 4 yards down
93 + 5 (for the 90% lie) -4 ( for Elevation) = 94 yards, nothing for the wind
From my chart thats exactly an LBWEDGE with 6 audible clicks off. The greens are holding so Ill go with that.
No guessing, easy calculations, You will also be suprised to find that the distance the screen says a club will hit the ball may not be accurate. Some of my weges travel 4 yard further than it says they will do
Jim

I just threw this together... I will explain in detail later. But it shows that no single number system can be used to determine distance change vs. elevation. The longer the carry on the club the more the variance... More to come. SkinniePost P.S. Remember this is a diagram, but the concept stands true regardless. Most of the numbers used are based on real life ball flight calculations scaled proportionally...

What a pretty rainbow ;D Cool illustration SP.
Keep in mind gents that the elevation is also somewhat of a guessing game. I have had elevation of "down 2 feet" and I adjust accordingly. Then when I hit the ball, it was if the was no elevation change at all and the ball goes well past the hole. This is just one example from my personal experience.

I work with audible loft only because i can´t see what Neil and someothers describe (the "flicker"). I calculate -4 yrds for my driver, -3 yrds for my wood, -4 for my irons and - 3 for my wedges each audible club to add loft. Delofting works for irons and wedges ( i calculate + 1 yard each audible click) But because i am a 100 % hitter woh´s not able to hit 100 % always it´s just luck for me most times. Off course i calculate evelation and wind like NCD. So 90% of my shots under calm and breezy conditions reach my goal. LeeTargo

LeeTargo Hey Lee that "flicker" can be seen in Neil's video. wiigatour.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=knowledge&action=display&thread=3223On the first hole at Boston time of 1:29 you can see Neil adding several clicks of loft, but only HEAR 2 clicks. Another fine example is on hole #4 at the 3:59 mark he adds loft and you Hear 2 clicks but see it flick more than that. Then at the 4:02 mark you see him take 3 clicks off but do not HEAR any clicks. That is the flicker people refer to as 1% loft. At 4:02, Neil took off 3 clicks of loft or roughly 3%. Hopefully this answers the flicker you speak of. - ken
