WiiGA Philosophy and Purpose
With the number of new members added to the WiiGA in recent months and the number of posts about the WiiGA on the EA Boards, it seems like it may be an opportune moment to remind everyone of why the WiiGA exists and what is expected of its members within that context.
The DGA, the predecessor and core of the WiiGA, was founded shortly after TW09 was launched as a reaction to two problems that were observed in the TW09 online environment: players quitting games and players chasing rankings. The other reason for the founding of the DGA was an interest among many players in a league or tour of some kind where players could compete on an honest, level playing field in the spirit of real golf. Sound familiar? Nothing’s really changed with TW10. The quitting problem has been improved, but not eliminated. If anything, chasing rankings has gotten worse with the discovery of bugs that can be exploited by those willing to cheat. And with Season 4 we’ve seen a real growth in participation in the tourneys, as well as an explosion of member tourneys.
For technical reasons in relationship to ProBoards it was necessary to end the DGA and start up the WiiGA. There was no other reason, however, for the change. This is important: the basis of the WiiGA is the same as it was for the DGA. Nothing has changed in that initial set of concerns and the philosophy of the organization that emerged.
Here’s what the WiiGA stands for:
Here’s what WiiGA members are expected to do as members:
We are all human beings and these expectations may, at times, be hard to meet. But the WiiGA can’t exist unless every member seeks at all times to meet them. This isn’t just a matter of your WiiGA public stance, either. Members are expected to conduct themselves according to these precepts at all times in all situations, including in private communications.
So here’s the pitch: if you can’t subscribe to the philosophy, purposes and expectations of the WiiGA, you may want to reconsider your membership. As an organization we are open to everyone; but we do insist that the principles stated be adhered to. If our rules and expectations are too restrictive for you to enjoy TW10 the way you want to, that’s fine. It’s a personal choice, and no hard feelings. But please, if you want to be a member here, remember why we’re here and help us achieve our goals.

Here’s what the WiiGA stands for:
- Facilitating fun for its members through level playing field tournaments, events and matches.
- Providing an environment where members can share fun experiences and, through chat and threaded posts, talk about them with other members.
Here’s what WiiGA members are expected to do as members:
- Have fun
- Follow the published rules and regs of the WiiGA
- Be honest- never cheat!
- Never quit a round
- Be respectful of and helpful to all members
- Share their knowledge to improve the TW10 and WiiGA experience for all.
