Announcing TW11, Season 1 for the WiiGA!
July 26, 2010 is almost here, so here are the specs for Season 1. Tourneys will be posted by Sunday, July 25, 2010.
Tourneys
There will be 5 tourneys over 5 weeks, beginning at 8AM CST July 26, 2010, and ending at midnight CST August 29, 2010
There will be 1 tournament specified for each week of the Season, but the tournaments may be played at any time during the season and in any order the member chooses.
A tourney is comprised of two official rounds. An official round occurs when the official password is used to access a posted match.
Each tournament will be offered in three styles of play, AM, PRO, and TPX (TourPro) with corresponding leaderboards. All members may play freely in any or all styles for every tourney.
There are no replays of a round, so each official round counts. Exceptions exist for FUN and OBSERVER rounds only, as specified in the WiiGA Rules and Regulations.
When the Season has concluded all members who completed 10 rounds in any specific style of play will be eligible for matchplay playoffs in that style.
Matchplay Playoffs
The playoffs will be structured in flights based on season rankings so that members compete against other members of similar skill levels and within the same style of play. There will be flights of approximately 8 depending on the number of players available. There will also be a Consolation Bracket (for 5th place), involving those knocked out in round 1 of the playoffs. There will also be a playoff for third place. This ensures that all players who make the playoffs will play at least 3 rounds.
The number of flights will be determined by the number of members who complete all tourneys within a style of play. Champions for each flight will be identified and receive champion awards. Details for how many flights for each style and how many rounds within flights will be worked out following the end of regular season play and announced between August 30, 2010 and September 2, 2010. Matchplay will run from the time of pairings announcement through midnight CST September 20, 2010.
Sign-ups will be required to play in the play-offs.
Deadlines will be set for each round of play when pairings are announced. Players are required to both post tee time requests in the Playoff Tee Time thread and to send PMs to their opponents working out tee times for each round of the playoffs. This establishes a record of attempts to set up matches. Players who are non-responsive and cause a pairing to miss a deadline for completion will be disqualified by the Tournament Committee and their opponent allowed to move ahead to the next round. Rulings about disqualifications by the Tournament Committee are final.
In case of ties related to the playoffs, the following rules will apply:
* Rank ties for seeding from the regular season will be resolved by dropping their lowest score. An example: if 2 players have the same total points and are both seeded in eight place, Each player drops their lowest score to see who has the better average. This would give it to the more consistent player. This will also determine which player goes to the bottom seed of the higher flight and which player goes to the top seed of the lower flight. This will apply to any and all tied ranks. (For clarification, your lowest score is you best round of the season.) Each player drops their lowest score and to see who has the better average. This would give it to the more consistent player.
* Tied playoff rounds at the end of 18 holes will also be resolved per USGA rules. Essentially, the match play tie resolution is sudden death through the continuation of the playoff from the 1st hole of the same course. The match continues, hole-by-hole, until an advantage is gained by one player. That player shall be declared the winner.
Settings
The following settings will be in force during Season 6:
