TPX Play-in Game 1 COcowboy wins 1up against TheBeezer. What a great match. It took 21 holes. It started with Beez winning the first hole and me the second. We exchanged wins through the fron, but I ended 2 up on the front. Then I gave back one at 10 and got one back heading into 15 and 16. On 15 I'm a 34% sharp breaker to the left. Beez makes his birdy putt, and I miss - 1 up. I drove into the right bunker on 16, and have a 50% lie. The only thing to do is a safety. Beez puts his app on the green. The end result is AS after 16. On 17, I go in the water. Beez up 1. On 18, we're sitting almost side-by-side in the fairway, but I'm first. I play PW fully delofted and have about a 20 ft putt coming. Beez gets his ball wet. All even after 18. Now its sudden death. There's a 10mph wind from the left, so I close driver down and hit 31 deg closed. I'm in the fairway with about 125 yards. Beez hits a left to right, and is barely in the rough on the right. He hits to the left front of the green leaving about 30 yds to the pin. The match is mine for the taking. I hit SW at 80% , and have about 20 yards to the pin! Hole 1 sudden death ends AS. Hole 2 is the long par 3 at Bay Hill. Beez hits closer to the hole, but both have nasty breakers to make. I barely lipped mine. Hole 2 Sudden death ends all square. Hole 3 is the par 4 around the lake. Beez hits driver, and I hit 1 iron with about 145 yards left to the pin. I hit a good app and have a 28% putt for bird. Beez looks like he's in the rough. He hits to the front fringe and misses a pitch or chip. I make the birdy putt, and its done. 1 up after 21 holes. Great match, TheBeezer.

OFFICIAL RD1 TPX
COcowboy defeats TheBeezer on the 21st hole
This was a remarkable match. The regular season had us within in a shot so we knew it would be a close match. We decided to do match play and that added to the drama. Here's what happened:
1 - CO comes up short on his approach and I managed to knock it close. My birdie put me 1-up. It was the last lead I would hold for a LONG time. 2 - I didn't have a good plan for this hole, and it showed as I was long and right of the green. I was trying to hit a 2I punch 90% and hit it full. CO put it on and nailed a fairly long putt to even the score. 3 - My drive was better but I tried to pitch it close to the hole and fell short of the green. CO made a great approach and birdied to go 1-up. 4 - Both of our birdie putts narrowly missed - CO still 1-up. 5 - Pitch and putt birdies for both of us. 6 - CO's approach was short of the green while my approach left me a short putt for eagle. I made it and squared things up. 7 - CO took the lead right back with a great approach on the par 3. My putt just missed and I was back down 1. 8 - CO played it safe while I broke out the driver and I had a much easier approach. I screwed up my shot though and CO hit another great approach. His birdie to my par put him 2-up and I was afraid this was going to get away from me. 9 - CO made yet another great approach from the rough to birdie. I tied him to stay 2-down at the turn. 10 - I nearly paid for my aggressive tee shot over the trees but my ball bounced into the fairway. CO hit his approach below the hole and missed the medium-length putt. I converted my wedge into birdie to get back within 1. 11 - We both played it safe and converted birdies. CO still 1-up. 12 - CO put his approach on this par 5 on the right fringe while I was in the rough. He just missed the eagle putt. I birdied as well and I'm still down 1. 13 - We both played safe again but I narrowly missed my birdie putt. Back down 2 and I was barely hanging on. 14 - I had a great birdie opportunity on this par 3 but couldn't convert. Pars kept me down 2 with just 4 to play. 15 - This hole is much less beastly with medium pins and soft greens. CO played a safer, shorter shot while I hammered it with a 7mph tailwind. I made my pitch and putt while CO hit his approach a bit long and left. The putt was tricky and didn't fall. CO 1-up with 3 to go. 16 - CO put his tee shot in the trap while I was safely in the fairway (even though it showed my shot as a mis-hit). He played it short of the pond safely while I managed to put it on pretty close. I didn't have to putt until CO had already hit 4 times, so I lagged my putt and made par to go all square. I was shocked to actually have come back! 17 - I put my tee shot safely on but not close enough to feel comfortable. CO's shot went haywire and found the pond. I safely 2-putted to go dormie into 18. I felt bad because that tee shot looked like a technical issue, but it was hard to tell. 18 - We both put our tee shots safely short, avoiding the water. CO hit his approach short of the hole and had a tricky birdie putt. I knew putting it anywhere on the green would likely win the match. I somehow managed to hit my wedge 85% with a 31 degree inside/out - and it went straight into the water! Very depressing - my shot didn't feel that bad but it wasn't the first crazy shot I had hit that match, or recently for that matter. In any case, CO made his par and that was enough to send it to extra holes. 19 (1) - CO hit a great tee shot, taking advantage of the 10mph right-to-left wind. I tried to hit a safe 1-iron and still put it in the rough. CO appeared to have it made, but his wedge went short, just like it did the first time we played this hole. My approach was short too, and we both parred. 20 (2) - I was sure this hole was going to lose me the match. I decided to hit a 5I this time and actually managed to put it within 15 feet. CO hit his approach long and right on the green and his putt just missed. My putt was pretty flat and I should have made it, but I flat out missed it. Pars and we were on to hole 21. 21 (3) - My approach trickled into the rough but I was inside of CO. He hit a great approach, just like he had the first time we played this hole. I had about 65 yards to the hole and a 90-93% lie. I went back and forth between a punch and a full shot and settled on the punch. Wrong choice - I didn't even get on the green, and CO hit a perfect putt to win the match.
This is the third time I have played a WiiGA playoff match into extra holes, and I'm 0-3. Needless to say, I was disappointed to not convert on multiple chances to win the match. But, it was still a fun round nonetheless and CO definitely earned his victory. BlairWeezy better not have an off day or he could easily find himself on the short end of the scoreboard. GL CO!

Hi there Beezer and Cocowboy. I think you should have played another 9 holes before going to sudden death. Check the rules of the play off's.

Hi there Beezer and Cocowboy. I think you should have played another 9 holes before going to sudden death. Check the rules of the play off's. Correct. In previous season playoff sudden deaths, were the way that beezer and Co played it. 1st one to gain an advantage, wins. This is the first season it was changed, and it was posted in the announcement for playoffs as a reminder. It states: " * Tied playoff rounds at the end of 18 holes will also be resolved by playing an additional 9 holes to determine a winner. Game should be set up for a full 18 holes in case players remain tied after the front 9, in which they then continue onto the back 9. The match continues, until an advantage is gained by one player. That player shall be declared the winner." The reasoning behind the change was simple. It's sudden death, so first one to make a mistake, losses. With the change of playing a FULL front 9, it wasn't an advantage to either player. Ex: Duck is terrible on hole #2 @ ''bayhill". His opponent ken, is terrible on hole #7 there. So ken would most likely beat duck on hole #2, game over ( previous playoff settings). Yet duck never had a chance to ''catch up" on ken on hole #7. This new change allows for players to make a bad shot on hole #1, yet still have a chance with the remaining 8 holes. Hope that clears it up. If not, ask. - ken

Seriously what is the ruling here do Beez and CC continue their match and play the full 9???

Beez and CO should replay their "overtime" with CO up by one shot after 3 holes. If they remain tied after 9 holes, they continue using sudden death.

The leaderboard has been updated to reflect this as well.

Official - Rd 1 @ Oakmont
zachf31 defeats ChrisFromLux 1 up
Chris took the early lead by eagling #4, but I got up 2 after winning holes 9 and 10. Chris won the p5 #12 with a birdie and the next hole, a par 3, with another birdie. I won #14 to go up 1 up, and on 15 sunk a 50 foot putt to save the tie. On the p3 16th, I missed a short birdie putt but saved par to stay 1up. On the D4 17th, we had a tough 19 mph tailwind. My 1i tee shot went 40 yards short in the rough, while Chris was just a yard or two off the green. We both made birdie, so I went into 18 at dormie. My approach left me about 25 feet short, while Chris had a thumper to within 3 feet. I knew Chris would make birdie, so I lined up my putt and rammed it at 65%, and it fell in to give me the 1up win.
Thanks for the game Chris!

Official - Rd 1 @ Oakmont zachf31 defeats ChrisFromLux 1 up CONFIRMed! An interesting game, indeed! Quite some missed Fairways by the two of us, and winds around 15 - 20MPH made us miss a few Greens as well. Unfortunately, my Thumper on #18 was the only one I had in the whole game, and when I saw Zach's Position, I thought I had a chance to save Overtime. Of course, I also knew he would take out the Sledge-O-Putter, and he made it! Thanks Zach, for this interesting game, and now go on and defend your Triple Crown! Chris

OFFICIAL TPX quarter final round. Motnola defeats KenW 8 & 6
Ken was figthing swing problems, while my swing was above my normal level, so this one got one-sided early. I know with Ken hitting his normal swing this would have been much closer and gone either way. I'll post details later.
Always fun K. Good luck the rest of the way. Mot

OFFICIAL TPX quarter final round. Motnola defeats KenW 8 & 6 Mot Oh yeah, I CONFIRM this beatdown! Even I did a 9 holer offline @ doral trying to get that swing I had when I played against dad. I knew it would be needed playing against Mot. I couldn't find it, but I did find this invisible wall in the middle of the green on hole #4 @ Doral. With roughly a 20 fotter downhill, slight break,it hits something shortly after the ball leaves the putter and veers way left. The balls ended up like 15 feet left of the hole Maybe that was a sign of what was to come in our game www.ustream.tv/recorded/13314919Hole 1 - Mot birdies to go 1 up. Hole 2 - Mot birdies again to kens dbl bogey. mot 2 up Hole 3 - We match pars Hole 4 - We match birds Hole 5 - Mot gets par to ken's bogey. Mot 3 up Hole 6 - Mot gets another par, but still better than ken's bogey. Mot 4 up Hole 7- Both par. :-*Mot 4up Hole 8 - Par 3. Ok at this point ken is frustrated with this errractic swing. Since we were chatting, Mot suggested that I c0ck and unc0ck my wrist. We have a 20 mph wind left to right. I try the swing and am 2/2 but the wind sends me OB I try it again and get 2/18. Both attempts were at 100% though The playoffs aren't really the time to tinker with my swing, but hey, I was down 4, gotta try something. Mot 5 up Hole 9 - Mot pars and ken tries this new technique again. Of course it doesn't go as plan, finds the OB and I go back to my 80% shots. Mot up 6 Hole 10 - Mot keeps up his steady play and gets par. ken is left with a bad breaker, 3 times too. If the hole was the size of a frisbee, it woulda dropped the first time. Mot 7up Hole 11- The d4, but not today. We both try anyway and land feet apart in the bunker. I say hola mot and he replies with a hey ken We both make great shots from it and settle for birdies. Mot 7up and DORMIE appears on the screen Hole 12- Par 5. ken shanks his 2nd way right and under a tree. I bury my watch next to the large oak tree, in hopes that it may attract dude there when he and I do the PRO round here Mot makes the birdie! This seals the deal with Mot winning 8 up!!! Mot played steady while ken was in a league of his own The chat during the round makes up for it. I now root for Mot to win flight 2 Congrats on a well played round Motnola! www.ustream.tv/recorded/13315973- ken

SkinniePost defeats Chris 2 & 1Another great game! I took an early lead, by winning holes #3 and #4. But Skinnie tied it immediately, by winning #5 and #6. I won #9 again, but Skinnie, again, tied it on the following hole. On #10, my Birdie-Putt lipped out, while Skinnie made his, and for the first time, Skinnie took the lead. Now, we weren't sure what broke our Pattern. Either it was Skinnie leading for the 1st time, or it was #12 which was halved, instead of me tie-ing the game again. Anyway, Skinnie didn't give his lead back; instead, he also won #13, to go 2UP. From #14 - #17, we matched 3 Birdies and 1 Par, and the game was decided! Congratulations Skinnie; but what's most important is that we had a good, interesting game, some fun and laughs in the chat and even 1 or 2 Spectators on Skinnie's Livestream! Good Luck in your game for 5th place, and I hope to meet you again, someday ... Chris
