Jeffro recently asked: You can do practice rounds if you are top 5 or 300th ranked or better right? I am still not clear on the difference and I do not want to do anything in violation of the rules.
Answer: If you are ranked over 300 by EA, or you are not currently in the top 5 of the WiiGA leader board, you can play all week and submit your best score for the week - no need to ever call an 'official' game. However, if you are ranked 300 or better by EA, or you are in the top 5 of the WiiGA leader board you can practice all you want but you must call your 'official' game in chat before playing. Your replay ability may change week to week if you are not in the top 300 EA rankings.
Example: If you are ranked 452 by EA, and are number 3 by WiiGA in our Pro leader board, and number 12 in the Am leader board. You would have to call your official Pro game for that week (since you are in the top 5). You can replay the Am tourney all week and submit your best score (since you are currently 12th).

I've played by the rules so far, but in the Pro tourney I'm not eligible for replay since I'm ranked 240 by EA. I'm ranked that high in standard swing, not in Pro and my performance through two weeks of the Pro tourney proves that.
I might propose that the EA rank only applies to the Am tourney, but I'm not sure if that would open a whole new can of worms. Any thoughts?

Without saying that this is how it should be, I can tell you what the thinking was behind the current rule: basically, we have a wide range of capabilities in the WiiGA at this point. Some of our members are among the best golfers in the TW world. Others of our members are just average, while others have a lot of fun, but aren't particularly competitive. And a few of our members don't participate in tourneys because they don't feel that they're good enough to play our better golfers. We've tried a couple of different methods over the last couple of seasons (even going back to DGA days) to try to make the tourneys more accessible to more members. The idea behind the top 300 cutoff was simply to find a way to say "you guys are good enough that you should be on spot a little more than our other members, and they should have a little advantage."
Whether or not this is the right thing to do, or whether or not it should be modified going forward is certainly something we can discuss. But that was how it came about and why.

Great point Bro, we'll keep the rules as is for now, but Pro and Am status is something we should consider in the future.

Please understand that I'm not trying to come in your house and change the way you do things. I'm simply saying that my EA rank doesn't equate to my pro putting skills. In Pro mode, I can drive for show, but I can't putt for ANY dough :-(

Hey, bro- you ask a good question! I'm not sure that we want to change things with half the short season gone, but if there are members out there who are concerned, we want to know about it. I think our goal is a good one, but that doesn't mean we picked the best way to achieve it! And every member's voice is equal, whether they've been here since the days of Chromedog, or since this morning! We'll be posting a thread in a few days asking for brainstorming about next season's format, so this question is absolutely reasonable and timely.
And for the record, I'm not in anyone's top 300, but I can't putt for any dough, either! ;D

Thanks "G"...That completely clears up my concern. I mainly wanted to make sure I did nothing wrong as a result of having played a practice round.
From here on it doesn't matter anyways as I learned from the school of Jokker and the school of hard knocks that my best round is usually my first one and as a result I will be more competitive if I just get out there and fire away without the practice.
Thanks again for your very quick response.
I cannot say enough about this league and the quality job all the Admin guys are doing. I know this takes a tremendous amount of your time and what you all do further adds to the enjoyment for all the members. Unfortunately it probably taxes some of your enjoyment to make this sacrifice.....so hats off to all of you. You are doing a great job and I am sure that I am not the only one who appreciates your efforts.
