Wayknow defeats SMR 2 up
Well SMR and I got the season 5 playoffs started with a great match at Wolf!SMR started slow and I got out to a 2 up lead.We pretty much traded shots for the most part.I screwed up one of the D4 and SMR cut the lead to 1 up for me.I'm hanging on for dear life..we are trading shots like two heavyweight fighters. We get to 18 and I still have a 1 up lead.I leave my drive a little short of the green.." Oh yeah..slow fairways..Duh!" Smr drives the green a little long and is waiting for the ball to roll back down for his eagle putt...it hangs up, doesn't come back.I get my birdie and nervously watch SMR's eagle putt just miss.He then 2 putts for par cuz it's game over already..thats why I won 2 up and not 1 up.Great, great match SMR.Like I told you I got lucky..you ran out of holes. Cheers to you!

Cheers to you! I confirm the scores posted by Way and his accurate description of the match. My start was really bad but we were well matched for the rest of the game. Wolf is a great course if you get behind 'cause there is always a chance to get back by taking a risk or two. Ultimately, Way was too good for me today - he played real good solid golf. Well played Way and good luck in round 2! Thanks for a great game. smr

joeyhoover vs. mdacamp Rd1 @ Wolf Creek
joeyhoover wins the match 5 and 4.
Well, mdacamp and I went to the Wolf Creek GC tonight in our AM 1st round Season 5 Playoff. We both played well, but mda said in chat after match, it "was not my night". I had my 1st ever Double eagle/HIO round. But wait that's not all. I Hole in one'd #9, which may be a first, A HIO par 4. And I Double eagled #12.
MDACAMP, I want to say, officially, GOOD GAME, SIR. mdacamp has been doing major physical activity, which interfered somewhat. But, he is a very good player, and is one to watch out for. Again, mda, good game sir!

OFFICIAL SkinniePost defeats KenW 3 and 2 Wow Ken, great match... It was neck and neck thru 11 or so. And now here is my brief recap We both start off hot, and match shot for shot thru the first 5 holes... Then step up to the 6th tee, with a 22 mph tailwind... I smack the cover off the ball and land my 423 yrd drive on the green But of course I proceed to miss my 35 foot long and 1.4 foot uphill putt The next hole, the one across the chasm, Ken decided turn-a-bout is fair play and drives the green for eagle, while I just miss the front edge, and drop my pitch save within an inch of the hole for birdie... KenDub up 1 after 7... I'm starting to feel the pressure, so I step up to the next hole, hit a nice shot onto the Par 3 green, and Ken just misses... All square after 8... On to the 9th, the hole Joey made famous with his Par 4 ace... I watch Ken drive within 8 feet, while I line up my faded 3W into the green, let her rip... THUMPER... I add a little right spin and roll up to within 6 inches of the pin... So close So after 9 we are all square with a score of 24... The 10th goes down as planned, then onto the 11th where I get lucky and stick the Par 3 green, while Ken rolls off and misses his pitch... Skinnie up 1 with 7 to go... We both eagle the 12th... Then to the 13th, the hole you have to drive over the mountain and drop it onto the bowl shaped green... I watch Ken roll his drive thru the green, so I add one more click of loft and knock it on the green for eagle... Skinnie up 2 with 5 to go... The 14th is next... This hole is evil, the fairway slopes extremely from right to left. I try to hit onto the flat section on top of the hill, but fail. Ken is also left with a tough shot on the sidehill. I aim like 60 yrds to the right of where I would have played normally, and still barely hit the left edge of the green. But since they are slow and soft, I manage to spin my ball back and to the right like 30 feet, to leave a reasonable putt for birdie. Ken misses the green to the left and has to pitch out of the trap for par... Skinnie up 3 with 4 to go... We play the rest of the match square, and both eagle out the 18th... For a final score of: SkinniePost 47 KenW 50 Fun match as always... Ken and I have a history of these that dates back to before I even knew what the WiiGA was, or that it existed. I'm still kicking myself for missing my putt on the 6th... since it would have broken my record here As it stands, I'm certain the record will fall before the first round is over Take care Ken, my friend, and thanks again for the close match Later, SkinniePost

OFFICIAL SkinniePost defeats KenW 3 and 2 CONFIRMED A battle indeed and I expected nothing less. Sp and I use to have close matches back in Sim where we originally crossed paths. I don't know our personal history but our records are close. SP may be up 2 or 3 matches combining SIM and Wiiga. Prior to our match I only had I plan, to just lay up on the D4 #7. After all I am matched up with the record holder. ;D However, the match was too close and I knew SP would be going for it, so I mustered up the courage and wham I drive it and make eagle. SP did hit a great shot on hole 9. Man that would have been something had he aced it ! Hole 13 I always go for it. And seem to overshoot the green more often than not. SP made it and now I'm in a tight position. Ahh #14 yes. That side hill is a killer. I took more time on my second shot then I did the entire game. I could not decide what to do. I finally aim far right to where the circle was off the green. I hit it only to see it go left and has bunker written all over it. I basically concede as I am down 3 and being devoured by wolves. Neither of us had an AHO. And we also had some crazy winds. Regardless it was battle in which SP came out as the victor. Quite impressive that he tied his own record. Skinnie... I wish you all the best when you face off with Jeffro in rd #2. - ken Note I snuck in one posts prior to this to make this # 249. It just seems fitting as SP played a part in directing me to Wiiga. wonder what my next post will be? LMAO

LMAO Congrats Skinnie and nice work avoiding the temptation to ditch the match and just go have a smoke and a beer on a grassy knoll overlooking the 1st and second hole . There was one flaw in your story-That was the part about wishing SP good luck when facing me in round 2. I need to get past my friend "G" in the first round for Skinnie to make his choice to play or ditch me in round 2 . IF....and that is a big IF......that I make it past G.....Then I am sure Skinnie will not need any luck. I do appreciate the confidence Kdub! I wish everyone much fun in all the playoff rounds ahead. Shhh Jeffro... Keep my ditching tendencies a secret, or the resulting disappointment will be no where near as effective On a side note... Jeffro will have no problem smacking me around, IF he makes the second round... But I bet he is glad he didn't draw me at Wolf in the first round, he knows better after our WWW match Later, The SkinnieDitcher

RD1: The Scores
Twotall4u beats/kicks/whipped LeeTargo out of tourney by 1-up.
It was up and down with Twotall being up 1 after hole 14, i tied at 17, my teeshot at 18 hits the stoneway(?) (left of the green where the crowd is standing) just to bounce on the green. I missed the put and birdied when suddenly game was over with Twotall playing an eagle there. Wonderful game, good luck Twotall4u. LeeTargo

OFFICIAL DavidDuval defeats TheBeezer on the 19th hole DD and I have a nasty habit of getting faced off in the first round of tourneys (Steph's tourney, WWW) and I knew this was going to be tough. I had no idea what a nailbiter this was going to be... 1 - I left my shot short and had a long uphill putt for the eagle. I saw DD hole it and thought I had to make it to tie, so I hit it way too hard and put it 25ft past the hole. I then saw that DD had birdied and the first of many profanities came out. I missed the comebacker and settled for a disappointing par. DD 1-up and it looked like 10-and-8 was in reach. 2 & 3 - Fairly uneventful and we both birdied both holes. 4 - A nice tailwind so I decided to cautiously attack by aiming at the bunkers and hoping for a lucky bounce. Didn't happen but had an easy up and down. I then noticed that DD had posted a bogey - not sure if he went OB or what but I was very happy to be all square again. 5 - Fairly straightforward eagles for us both. Still all square. 6 - I hit a great shot within 6 feet but just missed the sidewinder (a prelude) that would have given me the lead. We both par and it's still even. 7 - Crazy strong tailwind which forced me to hit a 1-iron in between my preferred distance on this hole. Missed it left but got up and down without too much trouble. DD birdies too so it's still all square. 8 - I decided to go 5 iron here and it paid off with a great shot and an easy birdie putt. DD hit his tee shot short and missed the approach. I'm up 1 and in disbelief. 9 - I just missed an eagle putt here and we both settle for birdie. I'm up 1 at the turn and surprisingly feeling good. I would have thought shooting 28 on the front 9 would have left me down 4 but the slow greens and fairways obviously were throwing off DD's game. 10 - I hit a straightforward tee shot and liked my lie for my approach. The game apparently did too as a full swing showed 82%. I let the Wii do it's thing as my shot bounced in for an eagle 2. DD birdies but I move up 2! Wow! 11 - Tricky wind and I had about 30 feet uphill for the birdie. Tough read but the preview was close and I hit my mark perfectly to keep pace with DD's bird. Still up 2. 12 - I missed on my approach here and had to settle for a bird. DD eagles to cut my lead in half. 13 - Tailwind on this hole and we both overshot the hole. I had a good putt that I can usually make but I just missed it and we both birdied leaving me up 1. 14 - Strong tailwind made this hole extra tricky. We both ended up making par and I'm still up 1. 15 & 16 - Routine birdies on the par-3 and par-4 and I'm still up 1 with 2 to go. 17 - We had a tailwind but I didn't trust myself to carry the creek so I tried to lay up with the 3 wood. I still rolled it into the rough while DD was way ahead of me and nailed his up and down. I hit it hard enough to keep it dry but overshot the hole and couldn't drop my approach to keep pace. All square again with 1 to go! 18 - I hit 3W into the headwind here which was a mistake. I believe DD was short too so we both ended up with birdies. All square after 18!!! After a quick check of the rules, DD sets again and we're heading back to 1. 19 - 18mph headwind on this hole and I had 254 to the pin after my tee shot. My 1I is 270 and it's way uphill so I broke out the 3W and was rewarded with a heartbeat. 8ft from the hole and DD is 20 ft away. DD made his putt while I was setting up so I knew I had to make it to stay alive. Tricky sidewinder and my preview showed me missing the line. I adjusted and missed my percentage by 5%. As the putt slid by the hole, I dropped to the ground. DD wins! Great job by DD and as much as I was disappointed by how it ended, it's hard to be too sad to be part of such a great matchup. DavidDuval, win this thing so I can at least say I lost to the eventual champ!

Giacomo defeats Jeffro 1up
Too bad this round was not on video-Hollywood beginning to end
G had some wiimote issues on our first attempt and tried to concede the match which would have been wrong on so many levels. So after twisting his arm to the point of breaking and IM helping him see the light G agreed to restart the match with a different wiimote....so off to the first tee.
Hole 1- We both tee off and end in the middle of the fairway. G makes a great approach to within a couple feet and taps in for eagle. I misjudge the wind and landed short of the green. I tried to pitch it in but just grazed the hole and settled for birdie. 1 Dn after 1.
Hole 2- I make birdie and G's birdie putt stops on the lip...all square after 2.
Hole 3. I hit my tee shot to a foot of the flag and tap in for birdie. G hit his tee shot past the flag and had a tricky downhiller that he drops to keep the match all square.
Hole 4. I misjudge my approach from the front bunker and come up short of the green. I just missed the pitch again and settle for par. G makes birdie to go back up by 1. I am 1 Dn thru 4.
Hole 5. G makes quick work of the hole (par 5) and gets his eagle. I left my approach about 30 feet short and had a tough uphill breaking putt. I hit it too hard and ran it by to settle for birdie. 2 Dn thru 5.
Holes 6 thru 8. We exchange birdies for me to remain 2 Dn thru 8.
Hole 9. I finally start to get something going with an eagle to G's birdie. 1 Dn at the turn.
Hole 10- 12. Again we exchanged birdies for me to remain 1 Dn thru 12.
Hole 13. This hole was extremely important. I knew I needed to get something going before I run out of holes. G plays it safe and lays up at the bottom of the hill. I went for it and made the green, but I was left with a 35 foot uphill sidewinder of a putt.....but very makable. I hit the putt just a tad hard and it lips out....just about that time I watch G's approach drop for an eagle to go back up by 2. 2 Dn with only 5 to play.
Hole 14 thru 16. Once again we exchange birdies and eagle where I remain 2 Dn with just 2 to play. I am not giving up as there is still a slim chance to tie it up.
Hole 17. This par 5 is usually a relatively easy eagle, but not today. The wind is howling at 21 mph straight in our faces. We both lay up short of the creek. I hit a decent approach and make my putt for eagle. G left his approach short of the green and then missed the putt to settle for par. I am still Dn 1 with just 1 hole to play. I say a little prayer as we head to the 18th tee.
Hole 18. I hit my drive as well as I could hope for short of holing out. I ran the tee shot 5 feet past the pin and was left with a dead straight putt which I drop for eagle. I noticed that G hit his tee shot through the green and was sitting in the back rough flirting with OB. I am fairly certain we are going to extra holes as I have never made the pitch from that position. G hits the pitch...it is tracking....it begins to slow, but still on line for the flag....BAM...He drops the miracle shot under pressure and ends the match 1up.
As much as I hate to lose I could not be happier for G. He played a great match and made the clutch shots when he needed them.
It was an honor to lose to such a great guy. I wish you great success as you continue your journey in the season 5 playoffs.

Jeffro It was one heckuva match, that's for sure! I confirm the ultimate result, but would quickly note that we tied in stroke play, and I was truly lucky to get the W. The shot at 13 that went in was an AHO- the screen shrank and the percentage shifted. The shot at 18 was also clearly an AHO, providing all the signs including slo-mo before going in. I didn't see jeffro being so favored by the EA AHO gods, so I will brag about not losing the advantage I received, though by the time we were done with 17 I wasn't so sure that wasn't happening! But I will also acknowledge quickly that supremacy was hardly established! My best shot actually occurred on the par 3 11th. With a fairly stiff wind blowing out I actually hit the pin and bounced off about six inches away. No heartbeat, no percentage change, no screen shift. So that one was definitely a keeper. Thanks, jeffro, for a terrific round of golf. You, sir, are a true gentleman! G.

Played a great match against my partner Jokker with Ducks and Riggy along to observe.
I brought my "A" game, but it wasn't enough to come out on top, but it was a great match all the way. In the end it was 2 and 1 for Jokker. I am sure my partner will have a detailed account of the game up soon.
Thanks for a great match partner! It is always a pleasure to get together for games. Good luck with the rest of your matches.

RD1: The Scores Twotall4u beats/kicks/whipped LeeTargo out of tourney by 1-up. LeeTargo WOW LOL. I completely forgot that it was a match play round. THANK GOD i took a pic of it on my cam. The only reason i did was because a good friend of mine told me i could never score better that 60 on WC from the black tees. I came on here to confirm Yesturdays score of Lee=57 Two=58 and a loss for me. But with match play i did win by 1. Good game Lee it was a blast

I confirm the scores posted by Dude, great match my friend & excellent play. I surely thought we were into extra innings when I shot OB on 18, manged to pitch it in for par and the one stroke win. MrYoungGun was a day late to the course (made a wrong turn at albequerque) and was met with a well prepared Riggy. after a lipout and an ob glitch, the game was tight the whole way thru. Myg pulled out a narrow 1 stroke victory escaping a first round playoff exit for the second consecutive season...thanks for the nail biter Riggy!

SkinnieP beats Giacomo 7 and 5 at St. Andrews Man what a crazy round... I for one was not prepared for those conditions Great game G, my friend, that was a crap shoot... I will be the first to admit that I guessed on at least 50% of my approach shots... It had nothing to do with skill He is a brief synopsis of the match, at least as much as I can remember... Whether the memory loss is from too much to drink, or more likely a post-traumatic memory blockage I managed to take the first hole with a birdie, then we played square for the next three holes... After four Skinnie was up one. The fifth is a Par 5, on which we received a lovely 38 MPH headwind... I barely made the green in three, and dropped my birdie putt to take the hole... Skinnie up 2. We tied on the 6th, then I went on a small run and took the 7th, 8th and 9th with eagle - birdie - birdie... Skinnie up 5 after 9... On to that back nine, and these conditions are already mentally exhausting me I score on the 10th, with another birdie, as you can see eagles which are commonplace here... Are about to be put on the extinct species list We tie the 11th and 12th... And then I take the match with a birdie on the 13th... Up 7 with 5 to go. The final scores are irrelevant... But I will say that TrojanMan, who should be known as the King of the Wind has return He handed out a lesson on this one, and even better, in a match later in the evening, dropped a ridiculous score at Harbour Town in the wind and rain, which I will post photos of in another thread... Thanks for the great match G, and I look forward to many more in the future my friend... Later, The Post

My friend SP is being needlessly humble- he played a terrific round. I never figured out the conditions and was out of it by the 7th hole. My only regret is in not having given Skinnie a better match. I've simply decided to avoid playing TM at all costs in the future. WOW!
Thanks, SP- it was a lot of fun, particularly the part about holding down my kilt while trying to swing in 38 mph winds!

Ha G... I see you are blocking the match out of your head even better than I Since you have already forgotten that when you eagled the 14th, you raised you hands in celebration and gave both TM and I a full moon I hear ya regarding TM, G... But not only will he not let me quit playing him, he won't even let me go to bed at night... He keeps twisting my arm and saying one more, one more Later, Skinnie:P
